Despite some issues with the plot and that it is silly to assume that Americans will leave the alien tech to some corporation from South Africa, this movie is still awesome. Plot is original, performances are great, especially the lead. It is fun to watch, it is not dumb, it has great CGI where needed. It was just exhilarating to watch.

I am not so sure a successor movie is a good idea, though. If they are going to do it, it will probably end like "independence day". I hope not...

"District 9" also helped me to create a successful rule on whom to get movie advice:

-> If one calls this movie "a bad movie", I don't trust a word they say about movies.

This is a decent movie, a fun watch for the whole family but it is vastly overrated. I have not seen anything so original about it, it is full of clichés and it is very predictable. It is not fun as other Pixar movies, it is supposed to be "deep" instead, but I just don't buy it. The love of Wall-e for the female robot feels unnatural and unreal. The producers' effort to depict a "cute speechless love" was largely successful for most of the people, but I find it pretentious. Well, that is me, though. There is a good chance you will like this movie a lot.

Still, this is the best animated movie ever? According to IMDb Top 250 it is. No, freaking way! It might barely make Top 20.

I finally sat down and watch this movie when I caught it on AMC. I have heard in detail about how it depicted my nation as evil pigs so I was not really surprised with (1) Extremely funny prison.(I assure you even in 70s prisons in Turkey have actual concrete buildings with water, heat and electricity and beds for prisoners.) (2) Constant depiction of Turks as fat sweaty pigs with no good in their heart. (3) Funny use of "Turkish" and especially long speech the prosecutor (4) all other stuff.

So I was not surprised but it is still horrible to watch your country being humiliated with lies. But it was OK, I was able to take it. UNTIL...

Until, Billy's father said "Turkish Food sucks" -or something like that. I could not help screaming to the TV: "F. you." Come on, this is Turkish food, a thousand year tradition that brings Mediterranean and middle east food together, one of world's two intercontinental cuisines(alongside french) And an American- from a place with no cuisine, just stuff from all over the world and burger and steak- says it sucks.

I know it is silly to get angry over this kind of stuff, but it was the point I could not help it. It shows how Stone and Parker are biased and ignorant.
