The reviews for this were good which gave me some hope but I had heard some things beforehand suggesting it would be bad.

It's not a terrible film by any means but it's a disappointment considering we have a new version of Superman and it doesn't give us anything we haven't already seen before.

The special effects are incredible to be sure the acting is fine but the movie just never really takes off simply for the reason it just feels so recycled.

Midway through the movie Superman has a nice moment with his dad that I really enjoyed. I wish the movie had more moments like that one. For a movie with action and special effects it's amazing that it's strongest scenes are it's more quiet and emotional ones.

That was a nice touch but the movie unfortunately doesn't have enough of the goods like that. It just wants to get to the action and just show you stuff you have already seen before.

I did also like the Justice Gang characters but there scenes are too small for the movie to ever really build any real momentum. Again good stuff but not enough emphasis on it.

Gunn has made some good movies, I was especially fond of his 2021 Suicide Squad so be obviously knows how to direct a good DC movie.

Unfortunately this will not go down in my opinion as one of those.

I thought because he did such a good job with Suicide Squad certainly a director of his talent could bring a fresh spin to Superman. But I was wrong.

Only a few very small moments feel fresh and at the end of the day that's not worth a trip to the theater. Stay home and stream the first two Superman movies with Christopher Reeves instead. Or for that matter even lesser Superman films than those will offer you more than this will.

Or just rewatch any Guardians of the Galaxy or Suicide Squad for better Gunn films.

I really feel it is time for them to put this franchise to rest. There's not much more that can be done with this story. Jurassic World 10 years ago was a great reboot.

It captured the spirit of the original and brought the most entertaining entry in the series following the original film. Fallen Kingdom a couple years later was a disappointment. It had some strengths but was disappointing compared to its predecessor.

Dominion from three years ago was only barely watchable though I have heard the extended cut is better so I should give it another chance. But the theatrical version was mostly a bore.

Just when I thought I had enough of the franchise now we get rebirth.

I went in with very low expectations. To be honest the movie is pretty weak in its opening and ending sequences but the middle sequence is so entertaining that I can give it a marginal recommendation and the middle section is more entertaining than the last two films combined.

Scarlett Johansson was a good addition to the cast and I like her character and her team. There's also a family in the mix and the boyfriend provides some comic relief but isn't really a very necessary character.

Still I feel this movie owes more to Spielberg's Jaws than to this first Jurassic Park film but in a way that's a good thing because once we get past the first act there is at least something different in the movie it isn't just a repeat of stuff we have seen over and over in the franchise.

Unfortunately in the final act the movie does go back to the same old stuff but before that enough is entertaining that I can forgive its flaws.

I know most reviews haven't been good and I think it's time to move on from the Jurassic franchise but since we can't stop them this is a moderately entertaining follow up.

I loved the first Megan. The previews made it look hokey but I genuinely enjoyed it and it was a fun movie.

So naturally the sequel had me interested from the get go. And few movies I feel are going to go down in memory as a disappointment.

The first movie never bored me for a second. The pacing of this sequel is so lethargic it's a wonder I didn't check my watch more.

All the leads are back but director Johnstone who also directed the original forgot what made his first movie so darn fun. Similar to what Jan De Bont did with his sequel Speed 2: Cruise Control following his successful first film.

This isn't as bad as Speed 2 but it's not good either. I will admit that the concept of turning Megan into a hero similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 when she was a villain in the original is an intriguing idea but this movie has no idea how to make it fresh or interesting.

Instead it's just trying to use clever one-liners some of which are admittedly funny but this sequel wants to go more for cheap laughs rather than thrills which its predecessor did so well.

For a movie I expected to be lame trash in the first that turned out to be a lot of fun I guess my expectations were way too high.

I heard the tone was going to change and I wouldn't have minded if they would have just not let the story drag so much.

A big disappointment. Do yourself a favor stay at home and stream the original instead. Even if you have already seen it over and over you're time is better of re-watching it then any time or money you invest in this bummer of a sequel.

There are worse sequels out there the aforementioned Speed 2, Caddyshack 2, Grease 2 and Staying Alive they are all worse but this still isn't good.
