I wish more film producers realized how difficult it is to bring certain stories to the big screen. Depending on how it's written, sometimes a script has to be radically reworked to keep the plot from getting lost in a confusing, nebulous heap to which a couple of old tricks have been added to make it more bearable. Now add to all this that the plot is steeped in a science fiction story, whose wide margins allow any writer or screenwriter to escape reality at will.
Clearly, I think Ash wasn't a story for the big screen. It would have been excellent as a literary bestseller, one you buy in the summer to go to the countryside or the beach on vacation and have it as another option in your relaxation plan.
The film is mediocre, ambiguous, confusing, or perhaps incomplete. The only thing I could highlight is the soundtrack, which very well accompanies the atmosphere intended to be presented on screen. The acting wasn't bad either, but there wasn't much to do with the poor script.
In short, Ash is perhaps one of the films you can skip from your list in 2025, unless you are a die-hard fan of science fiction mixed with horror.

If only the final installment of Mission: Impossible had been something similar to The Accountant duology, then it would have had a better ending, or perhaps even come close to matching the best films in its series.
The Accountant 2 maintains the narrative quality of its 2016 predecessor. The script remains the shining jewel in its crown. It's a very well-written film, unlike anything we're used to seeing in the action genre. Compared to the first film, the brutality of the action sequences remains, the interesting angle from which the protagonist is viewed and developed remains, and the elements of mystery remain, eventually revealing themselves, like the image of a puzzle being put together.
The things I didn't like as much were the revelation of who's behind the voice on the cell phone, and afterward, they gain an unnecessary prominence. Affleck's performance is also somewhat different. He's not as convincing as he was in the previous film, although if you think about it, you can find a couple of justifications.
In short, The Accountant 2 is a worthy sequel that, after 9 years, makes the wait worthwhile.

I love when stories feature a character with a high IQ, because it forces the plot to be intelligent. There are many examples. Sherlock Holmes, House MD, A Beautiful Mind, and why not? The Accountant.
Ben Affleck plays a neurodivergent math genius with military combat skills, who surrounds himself with a story full of suspense, action, and plot twists, although some are a bit predictable. His performance is good, as is Jon Bernthal's.
The story feels like a puzzle that is gradually put together as the minutes pass and you are entertained by the action sequences. As a fairly regular action-movie watcher, I greatly appreciate the intelligent approach of Gavin O'Connor and his genius accountant.
It's a highly recommended film, and one that I would definitely watch again.
