I love this film. Not only does it have a midget with an incestuous relationship with his own mother, but it has zombies that can throw a railroad spike 20 feet, impaling someones hand to a wall! The DVD rendition of this film looks great, compared to the old VHS. You can actually see where the hell the old man at the beginning is walking to. I give this film a 7 out of 10, for the above reasons :)

Avati's 'Zeder' is true maturity when reflecting on the Italian horror genre. This film does't deliver close-up shots of pig entrails, nor does it steal cannibal stock footage to liven up the pace. Instead, it relays a story that was conceived by a genius, and allows the viewer to piece together the puzzle in his or her mind. The old marketing campaign, which displayed a decaying zombie exploding over a sewer drain, was definitely used to lure in sales and deceive buyers. This was no fault of the producers or director, but of typical American greedy distributors. If your the type to not judge a book by its cover, you may find a gem. Besides, anyone that sees this film as being 'pointless', 'dull' and so on should probably stay watching Speilburg Hollywood Schlock! Oh yeah, have you noticed this film's plot is similar to that of King's 'Pet Semetary'? Many speculate one may have plagiarized the other. In truth, Avati filmed and released his product over a year before King wrote his book. This film is a thinking man's horror film. Check out Avati's House with laughing Windows if you like Zeder.

It was the year 1989 (or so), and back then renting horror videos was the coolest thing a kid could do. I remember coming across some strange, hilarious, campy, and downright offensive stuff, and I thought it was great. The Video Dead eventually crossed my path. Now this flick definitly isn't a serious entry in my personal horror hall-o-fame, but now that the years have passed I kinda miss it. True: the acting is bad, and the punch-line about the poodle screwing a skunk is unneccesary at best. (This isn't Hollywood folks. BUT WHO THE HELL NEEDS HOLLYWOOD?) These Days I have began a tedious quest to collect those campy flicks I saw as a kid, and Video Dead is one thats evaded my grasp to date. I truly recommend this film for any Zombie fan or horror enthusiast simply because it is a prime example of B-Movie Glory. Great Zombie make-up EFX... A Twilight Zone-esque story about a posesseed television set... Nostalgic 80's synthed out soundtrack... Chainsaw mayhem... Ands lets not forget about a mysterious Goth girl that seduces the teenage boy (and who almost resembles a male crossdresser)...

Sounds groovy if you ask me!
