Just found this show and I'm bingeing 5-6 episodes a night after work.
Is this a masterpiece with top-notch CGI, Oscar-worthy performances, breathtaking cinematography, and flawless dialogue? No. But then, I don't expect that from SYFY shows. They're always a bit cheesy/campy, some writing could be better, and the CGI always needs help.
But if you can look past that and know what to expect, it's a gem of a show. It has some amazing one-liners that make me laugh out loud into my living room, fun and loveable characters, entertaining storylines, and speaking as a young queer woman, FINALLY a beautiful and healthy LGBTQA relationship. Our community is so under-represented as it is, and other, more big-name shows (looking at you, L Word Gen Q) portray excessively toxic and unhealthy queer stereotypes. Nicole and Waverly are so cute together, and the mixed support and hate from the small-town community is believable and realistic. I love that their relationship just fits right in; it doesn't feel forced for the diversity badge, it just...is a part of the show, right alongside straight relationships. Which is how it should be.
If you can get past the typical SYFY campiness, just sit back and enjoy. It's a fun way to fill the quiet evenings of winter.
