If you enjoyed 'True blood' this is the equivalent for Superheroes. Not for kids and it does not fanaticize about non human beings. I don't think any kid should watch this and I can't picture anyone dreaming to wear a cape after this show.
Realistic and vulgar.
It captures you immediately starting from the pilot episode. I hope the scriptwriters keep it going like this. The whole cast is amazing & Jansen Ackles is a great choice- so good to see him back on TV.

If you are not after a typical show this is it. You need to read between the lines, the dialogues, the cliche's that are refereneced all through the show. The acting is great so are the costumes. The dreams to do better in life of people from an unfortunate industry in the 80s are reflected so well. These people from the porn industry are depicted like cartoon characters based on perceptions of the society in general. It feels like the characters are not based on real actors but the fictional porn film characters we see on the screen which makes this series a satire and a good example of absurd comedy.
The show depicts (what could be called the glass ceiling in some cultures) the way women are underestimated in their local communities and the scarlet letter they ought to carry throughout their lives so well that, the female character draws the audience to her deep dark well of frustration and you feel you are suffocating with her. I kept wondering how this broken girl survived so long. The cruel and bitter realities of the Anatolian patriarchal culture and how unworthy women maybe in a society is reflected as it is. She does what many women perhaps only thinks of doing but continues to comply.
The two sisters are like the two sides of the culture: Very different but the same in essence.
Acting was excellent! Don't miss this one. Despite a some small gaps in the plot it is a very good show.
