There are things I like about this, things that remind me of the original.
The locations and sets are just as good as the original. But I don't like CGI monkeys... that don't act like real baboons.
Of course, it would have been impossible to use real baboons or real rhinoceri, the rhino was believable at least.
I had not watched the original for several years before I popped this in. And so of course, it dawns on me who is this man is, they were not trying to obscure the identity that much, but they just were not saying who he was.
It's just too bad that they could not include more of the actors from the first one like Djimon, whose first role was as an Owl-Guard in Stargate. But they had the Senator. I'm surprised he was still around.
Of course, this movie has to reflect our current political climate and so this is the story still in the making. And the one thing that we don't have much of is hope.
And we also know that there is going to be treachery just like in the first film, and there is going to be treachery in our lives too, there already is.
So maybe I might wait until mid 2026 to watch the rest of this film...

They prophesied with startling accuracy something that would happen later.
This pilot episode deals strictly with the lone gunmen and their interpersonal relationships. It gives us a look at life inside the lone gunmen.
But these are not the same three competent hackers that were introduced in season one of the X-Files: E. B. E.- even Langley was depicted as competent when they were first introduced.
These are guys that had a lot of changes during nine seasons of The X-Files.
But they introduced a nemesis for the lone gunmen, a beautiful hacker named Yves Adele Harlow... Who would later become an ally.
And Byers learns some things about his father, which at first makes their estrangement even deeper.
But nothing is as it appears...
I had written a review of this episode when it came out, why has it vanished?

This show gives us a look at the lone gunmen in their private lives. These are not the same lone gunmen that we met in EBE... those guys were competent and professional, and could hack Mulder into any government facility that he needed to get into.
But these guys have many personal issues. This time it has something to do with Byer's father.
And the company E Con Com has similarities to AMD and Intel, we wonder how secure our home PCs are, and if there are back doors in every CPU in every computer in the world.
But the interesting thing here is that the show starts off with a scenario that became a reality later on.
Of course, they introduced two new characters that became allies and comedy relief. And we even had visits from Mulder and Morris Fletcher...
But even with these slight changes in the characters, this show could have, and should have continued.
But because it was on Fox, episodes were shown out of order, and the show was canceled way before it's time, even when it was popular.
