We put 'Train Dreams' on Netflix with absolutely no idea what we were in for and honestly, it blew us away. It's such a beautiful film, but also quietly heartbreaking in that deep, ache-in-your-chest kind of way. It feels so raw and real, capturing love, loss, grief and survival across an entire era without ever feeling forced. And the cinematography.. my god. Truly Oscar-worthy - every single frame felt like a painting. Joel Edgerton is phenomenal too, and I genuinely hope he gets nominated because this performance deserves to be remembered..
That said, it won't be for everyone. It's slow, reflective, and very much an art piece rather than a flashy popcorn film. But if you're in a thoughtful, slightly emotional, stare-at-the-wall-after kind of mood - it's so worth the watch. This one really stayed with me in that quiet, haunting way only the most special films do.

Just left the preview screening of Eternity and I am... shook. I fell in love with this one from the trailer and it absolutely did not disappoint. It's proper old-school romcom vibes but with a magical, mind-bending twist: Joan finds herself in the afterlife and has just one week to decide where - and with whom - she wants to spend eternity. From the first scene, I was hooked. The afterlife world is whimsical, heartbreaking, funny - basically everything you didn't know you needed.
All we are is a collection of memories, right? This film gets that so perfectly. Elizabeth Olsen is just gorgeous, and honestly one of the best actresses of our generation. She's charming, human, magical all at once and I was bawling my eyes out multiple times. Her and Miles Teller (and Callum Turner)? Chemistry for days. My heart genuinely hurt in the best way.
It's clever, emotional, funny and so relatable. I laughed, I cried, I felt. If you love romcoms that actually stick with you, this is it. Go see it, fall in love, have your heart broken a little - it's so worth it.

Honestly, the first act of this film is SENSATIONAL - I was absolutely riveted. The opening moments threw us straight into the heat of a nuclear crisis, and I got bona fide goosebumps. I even teared up, not just from the tension but from the sheer weight of what was playing out on screen. You can feel the precision behind every shot and performance - it's electric filmmaking that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go.
Then... it kind of loses its footing. Despite the stellar ensemble the narrative starts to feel stretched. The same moment is replayed from different perspectives, and while that structure is ambitious, after a while it made me glance at the clock. It's like getting back into the same car ride over and over but from the backseat, front seat and then third row.
Still, despite its uneven second half, it's absolutely worth a watch. For all its flaws, the concept remains compelling, the production value top-tier, and those early moments stick with you. If you're in the mood for a thriller that keeps your heart pounding and stays on your mind afterwards, this is one to slot into your weekend watch.
