That I recall, it was in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, with Eli Wallace doing the Lou Gossett part as the recycled money maker.
Personally, I'd like to repeat this kind of scam using my first wife, only I don't think I'd be willing to take her back.

Quit trying to compare it to Taken and the original Norwegian version, dammit - this movie stands on its own as a highly entertaining thriller with lots of dark, wry humor.
Plus Neeson is thoroughly up to the job and delivers.
The action keeps it up at a good pace and the thoroughly hiss-able villain adds to the arch humor.
And for God's sake, quit dissecting it and dissing it because of some lack of realism, perceived affront to native Americans, or some supposed plot hole. It's a popcorn movie, for cripes sake - not some super serious base-on-fact crime flick. As others have said, think far more along the lines of Fargo or The Guard and you're bound to have a good time.

Saw it 15 years ago, and I still haven't shaken it. A profound kick in the gut. I've never been in combat, but I have to think this is exactly how it is.

And now for something almost completely different: Kon Ichikawa later shot the magnificent Tokyo Olympiad - a narrationless documentary of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics that's a breathtaking marvel to behold. Many of the stop-motion time lapse and slow motion shots beautifully capture the magic, stress and strain of some of the world's greatest athletes in a manner never seen before.
