I was really taken by the final scene. I genuinely learned mare about Ani's character in the last few minutes than the rest of the film combined. The sheer amount of gratuitous softcore porn in the opening act was such a blatant contrast to that moment of vulnerability. While this contrast was an obvious directorial decision, I frankly hate it. The film would have been a decent comedy without that masterful scene. This film could have been a masterful drama without the humor. The film would have been more tolerable if edited for time. This film is what happens when a great chef tries to use every spice on the rack. The result is overwhelming and unpalatable.
Sheridan does it again! I was caught off guard by just how bold the themes and messages were this season. In both seasons there is an obvious theme of "the more things change, the more they stay the same." What sets the second season apart is just how current and real the conflict is. I have no doubt that Sheridan closely studies geopolitics. This series often blurs the line between speculative fiction and reality.
This series really ticks all the boxes for me. If you have any interest in the world of intelligence agencies, international crime, or geopolitics I simply can't recommend Lioness highly enough.
9/10.

Highest praise to Tim Miller - what an anthology this was!
I am a big fan of LDR. Miller has obviously taken the best of his team from that project and created a far more consistent end product. There wasn't a single "miss" in these eight short films.
I must admit I was only familiar with half the games these episodes are based on (some gamer I am), but that didn't detract from my enjoyment at all. Of those IPs I did know, I was presently surprised by the loyalty to the source material! Those artistic liberties taken all felt like heartfelt homages, written by people with a good understanding of the material. That is really rare these days.
I recommend this series without reservation. I can't wait for the next episodes to drop!
