This was a fine, fine film that revisits a subject that's been revisited a lot. But freedom from alcohol stories are like fingerprints: they're all uniquely different. I appreciated Ronan's journey and the story telling the director exacted and made us walk through with the central character.
The way the film was assembled, particularly the visual aspects of the Irish coast brought a level of refreshment to the movie. And to me. Stunning. Scary too!
Sobriety is hard won for many. The director made sure we understood this wasn't a cake walk by making sure we saw the pain, anxiety and abuse that comes with going really really really low. Been there. Done that. I authenticate the experience to the extent I am allowed to do so.
There's triumph here which is a beautiful part of this film. It's not exaggerated. It's layered and straightforward, nuanced and not.
Well with the watch. I grew.

It would be a shame for people to pass up this very well produced well acted emergency room drama. It's often hard to watch because it's a challenge to watch humanity at its sickest. Whether treating patients or struggling with daily lives, healthcare professionals, deal with many comorbidities themselves.
The lead actress is worthy of note, as is the supporting cast. The show is gripping and extremely nuanced. I certainly hope it will be renewed, and that IMDb ratings will push up into the mid 7.5 range. It deserves it.
I'm not exactly sure how they are so aptly able to create the tense environment that can be a gritty, overrun, urban hospital, in a city with an underside that many simply can't relate to. But Berlin certainly seems like a city with many inner demons, screaming for a resolution.
I wouldn't skip this series if you are looking for something engaging. I always am and this has met my requirements.

I thought this was a particularly well acted, well written script. The Spanish actors are all very seasoned, and really capture, from everything I can tell the essence of the real people who were involved in the situation.
Particularly the mother who plays Rosario, who does a remarkable job in portraying a confused, drama laden, scatterbrained, somewhat mentally unstable, overwrought, calculated, possible killer. Superb acting.
I think the way the story was laid out, woven together, was very effective. It's also an excellent view into the Spanish judicial system. We Americans often think our approach to justice in these cases, as much different than in Europe, so it's interesting to see their similarities.
I don't watch anything below 7.0, and gave this a 8.0 with the hopes it'll elevate the rating because I think this was very well crafted and solid piece that's won't waste your time.
