This is a biopic of British inventor William Friese-Greene (Robert Donat) who arguably invented the modern moving-pictures camera. He lived from 1855 to 1921. He would go bankrupt a few time while he continued to invent. He dies in poverty and in dramatic fashion during a meeting of British cinema.

This is beautifully made with the best of Britain. It had some critical praise and bombed at the box office. It's a bit stodgy or maybe that's just being British. I don't know this man and can't judge the accuracy. All I know is that this gets a bit dull at times and interesting at other times. It is very much borderline.

It is the luxury cruise ship, The Odyssey. The crew is led by Captain Robert Massey (Don Johnson). Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan Silva (Sean Teale) are the nurses on the ship. Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) is the new hire. He decided to pursue joy after recovering as the first American COVID case. This exists in the same universe with 9-1-1.

The big name behind the scene is Ryan Murphy. The showrunners seem to be trying for a soapy Love Boat with more action and sex. The love triangle is rather melodramatic but very sexy. Don Johnson isn't doing that much other than being the old steady hand. Here's the deal. It's not a good show, but I like it for some reason. I like the characters and the actors. It's a bit ridiculous. It's a bit of fun. It gets canceled after one season. Nobody will miss it.

WWII has ended. Wilhelm Grimm is brought before a war crimes trial. As each witness testifies, the movie flashbacks to the past. Wilhelm had returned to Poland after losing a leg in WWI. He is bitter from his war experiences.

This was Oscar nominated for Best Writing. D-Day is still months away. The outcome of the war is still in doubt. In many ways, this has to be seen in the light of wartime. It shows how a regular man can join the Nazis and the consequences of all those decisions. It also shows life under the Nazis including the rounding up of people and war effects. It is unsparing in its depictions and gives its audience the reasons to keep fighting.
