Sequel to the engaging film about sandal wood smuggle and the rogue who never give up ends up as a dull cracker proving "too much of anything is bad".
Sukumar is perhaps one of the rare film maker of the Telugu Industry who manges to have a good quality script and great making while not losing to the mass appeal film expectations. In the place where sub standard films are overhyped, Sukumar deserves respect. Rangasthalam, 1- Nenokkadine, Pushpa The Rise were all the golden feathers in his cap. Pushpa 2 felt more like a film from his overhyped contemporaries like Boyapati Sreenu. Anti gravity fights, soap opera dialogues, an aimless plot that never reaches anywhere and a climax where all family members pose happily in frame. Rashmika is so useless in acting, her scenes of involvement felt more like a struggle to act- irritating, same goes with the supporting actors- no one knows to convey emotions naturally.
Allu Arjun & DOP are the only positives for the film.
The film can boast of creative action sequences but most of it doesn't give the necessary impact, more like a cartoon that does nothing with the audience.
Fahad Faazil who was phenomenal in the first part was made as a comic relief which helps to improve the mass appeal of the protagonist.
Pushpa 2 seem more like a wannabe KGF 2 but fails post intermission.
Sukumar may have been forced to do this film.
Waste of money- for the producers & audience.

Bramayugam showcases a black and white world of 18th century. A man who escapes from the world of war and slavery ends up in a mansion that transcends time and reality, an inescapable prison where a menacing master traps the ill destined travellers as his servants till end of time.
Mammootty who played the master/feudal lord was phenomenal - convincingly portrayed the administrative power he has, the cunningness in luring visitors to bet their life in game of dice and the evil that lurks within him.
Siddharth Bharathan - the servant and Arjun Ashokan- the traveller were equally good.
Quite a marvelous feat to have almost a three hour long film entirely in black and white with just three characters in a single mansion - and manage to keep the viewers engaged throughout.
Writer Director Rahul Sadashivan made a masterpiece product as his second horror film.
Truly one of the best fantasy films from the country - to be treasured along with Tummbad.

CID Ramachandran Retd SI follows the line of a policeman investigating his crime post-retirement. The film takes its own sweet time to establish the characters and plot. Once the film switches to the investigation part, it keeps the viewers engaged not just for a bit but till the very end. Each new finding is a new turn in the investigation route. It is quite rare to have something refreshing like this in the tried and tested field of crime drama. And very satisfying to have a story that doesn't rely on predictable storyline.
Shajon was very convincing as the policeman who never rests.
If it had a better promotion and distribution, it would have been considered another gem of the year for malayalam cinema.
Would support if this turns out to be a series or a sequel.
Great film.
Writer Director Sanoop Sathyan has a bright future.
