I saw Pathaan on the 1st day of it's release. There was a lot of buzz around this movie for positive & negative reasons. But, the biggest reason for most people to watch this was to witness the comeback of Shah Rukh Khan in a leading role after just over 4 years.

PROS: The back story given to the Antagonist played by John Abraham, good work by the leading & supporting characters including SRK, John, Dimple Kapadia.

CONS: Amateurish action set pieces & VFX, hit & miss comedy, predictable story & screenplay.

Overall, Pathaan is an out & out Hindi masala movie that manages to hit the sweet spot. Expect it to entertain the audiences & ring the cash registers for quite some time.

I had the opportunity of watching Glass Onion at TIFF Lightbox. Initially, wanting to wait for it to drop on Netflix, I gave in to a friend's request.

And this movie turned out to be a breezy entertainer. The screenplay, I would say was tight until the last 10 minutes, with the first half serving as a thriller and the second half adding a bit of emotional drama to it.

I have mixed feelings about the climax, because in retrospect it was a bit too obvious, but upon further pondering, I realized that it perfectly justified the title, Glass Onion as explained in the movie.

The dialogues in the movie packed a punch and made me chuckle multiple times throughout.

The cinematography is decent, not something that can not be enjoyed on your computer screens.

And finally, acting. This had a great ensemble cast. Daniel Craig was much better than the prequel as Benoit Blanc. Absolute delight!

Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista & Kathryn Hahn were all very good too in their respective roles.

But, the star for me, was Janelle Monáe! I really didn't expect anyone to outshine Daniel Craig, but she absolutely did!

Not to forget, a couple of great cameos that livened the entire house-full theatre with laughs.

To summarize, a well-executed murder mystery with a puzzle that the viewers will enjoy solving.

When I went to see Brahmastra (IMAX 3D) I had my fingers crossed & hoped that it would be a good one.

Alas, it turned out to be a major mistake that made me repent spending $15 on the ticket.

PROs: The visual effects used to create the Nandi Astra & the climax scene. The cinematography in a few scenes in the first half appeared to make the experience worth while, for a while.

CONs: Immature dialogues; Paper-thin script; Continuity errors; Overdrawn, Unreal & Ineffective love story; contradictory plot-points around the Astras; poor character development for all the character, with NONE of them standing out; lack of originality(as inspiration drawn from Harry Potter & Percy Jackson, atleast); misuse of the cameos.

To summarize, for a movie-goer who has experienced, cinema outside Hindi cinema, this movie is a drab and absolutely avoidable. This was proven last night, by the fact that for the first time in a packed hall, I heard continuous cringe and sarcasm from the crowd. Not a single enchanting moment from an event film of this scale.

Absolutely disappointed by this film.
