Add to that sub-par acting, wooden characters, terrible dialogue and script, with overweight civil war reenactors and you have a real stinker that would only appeal to the hardest core Civil War history buff.

This movie is totally devoid of any suspense or drama. It would make a good sleeping pill. Even the action scenes are drawn out and boring.

Also, can any performance be worse than Martin Sheen as Robert E. Lee, who spent the entire time looking and acting like a deranged psychopath? Yes it can, how about Jeff Daniels and those crocodile tears flowing into that fake beard after he gets the news of someone dying? What a joke.

I did give this movie 3 stars for the unintentional humor provided by the fake beards and lousy acting.

A pox on Robert F. Maxwell for directing this stinker and Ted Turner for thrusting it upon an unsuspecting movie going public. I'm just glad I didn't have to sit through this monstrosity in a theatre. I picked it up for 5.99 in a bargain bin. I think I got ripped-off.

I remember seeing this movie as a preteen-ager at a drive-in in the early-mid 1960's. I watched it again years later on DVD and still found it entertaining. I would consider it a Japanese retelling of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

An eccentric ultra-patriotic World War II Japanese naval genius has built a super sub in secret to restore the glory of the World War II Japanese Empire. However a new enemy has now emerged; an aggressive underwater kingdom called Mu and it's giant monster god.

This is a good movie with a decent plot and some very attractive Japanese women! The bikini shot of Akemi Kita early in the movie definitely wins the award for "The Best Bikini in a Japanese Movie". The Captain's daughter and the Mu Empress definitely rate a 9+ on the "hotness" scale as well. ;)

This movie is classic TOHO made during the heyday of Japanese science fiction. Although the special effects doesn't stand up to today's standards, for it's time they were above average. I remember watching this movie as a kid and being mesmerized by it. The musical score is very good as well.

The American release DVD quality is excellent. It is dubbed in English and about 89 minutes long. The colors are rich and vibrant. A very good presentation for this very good movie.

Definitely worth a look. I recommend it.

Terrible movie. It was little more than a two-hour commercial for corporate America. I'm glad I didn't pay for the ticket to see this stinker. A friend who works for one of the company's that advertised in the movie had a couple of free passes and asked me to come along. I still felt ripped-off.

It's obvious the only talent required by the actors in this movie was to act dumb and look stupid. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I was really expecting a good comedy with witty lines and good satire, but it's just not to be with this movie.

I am surprised it is rated so highly. I wonder if the corporate sponsors in this movie has been busy urging their employees to visit this site and inflate the ratings.

I give it 2 out of 10 stars only because the cougar did a better job of acting than the humans.

Save your time and money. Don't waste either on this stinker.
