I'm usually very fussy with TV drama and this one just worked for me almost immediately.
The acting is superb, the three sisters and their dynamic is just so raw and brilliant and entertaining.
It's OTT, sure.. it's very melodramatic, but that's what you're paying for with this one, and it's peppered with so much authenticity you can buy into the melodrama so much more.
It's a YA backbone with real broad adult appeal. I'm an adult, I loved this. The Mise en scene is also beautiful, so much to study in each shot. The actors were brilliant and characters while drenched in privilege were somehow not grating.
I discovered Ewan McGregor's daughter Esther McGregor played one of the young cast members, she's absolutely brilliant.
And the ending.. well really such a surprise and really by that point the emotional investment I had just was a huge reward and pay off as viewer.
Well done everyone involved.

The film is visually stunning as many people say, but from the beginning I found the voice for the robot so distracting like it was being read at a first read through or something. I know it's a robot, but there was just no passion or delivery even in the voice that made me warm to the character or what they were saying at all. It spoilt what otherwise would be a great movie.
I just kept really hearing her "read* the script in front of her as though she didn't understand the character she was playing, or decide on a route to take it. It's a confusing role to play I guess but I suppose that's the skill of the actor to work that out and take it in a direction.

Feels like an American screenwriter tried to write a British costume drama.
Putting the modern twists aside (these can be welcomed and interesting) it is just all utter nonsense.
Have no feeling for the characters and the script is delivered in an self,-aware way that just makes me cringe. It's just looks all the time like it wants to be a costume drama but doesn't know how to be.
They threw so much money at it but this weird fantasy world they have created... It's just so unbelievable.
Oh crud another 100 characters to go. Well it gets 3 stars because there were some likable bits. But I gave up halfway through season 1.
