Welcome to Derry is absolutely phenomenal. I've loved the entire IT franchise, I've read the book, and as a massive Stephen King fan I've seen most of his adaptations, both the good and the bad. This show fits perfectly into the IT universe and completely nails it.
It's genuinely the scariest thing I've seen in a very long time, largely thanks to Bill Skarsgård who is utterly terrifying, backed up by some seriously impressive CGI. The kid actors are fantastic and totally believable, which makes everything even more unsettling.
I loved the lore and how much they've expanded and woven into the story. It adds so much depth without ever feeling forced.
An absolutely brilliant show and easily one of the best things I've watched in a long while.
... And the intro music is insanely addictive!!!

This film was incredibly frustrating to watch, mainly because I could barely hear a single word of dialogue. The background piano score was far too loud and completely overwhelmed the important conversations, leaving me confused about the plot half the time. It's ridiculous to make that choice in a film where the context and narrative are so crucial. I've loved the director's other work, and I'm a fan of much of the cast, but the experience was completely ruined by the sound design.
I liked this movie, but based on its high rating I expected to love it. It felt like it was missing something, though I can't quite put my finger on what. The constant, erratic piano score became irritating after a while, and although the story itself was good, it just didn't fully land for me. Around the two-hour mark, I found myself reaching for my phone, which isn't a great sign. It's a good film overall, but it doesn't feel like an 8/10, and it definitely didn't need to be that long. Benicio Del Toro is by far the best character.
