I couldn't believe, that they threw out millions of Dollars to produce this film and then never released it! ...not on the big screen and not on Video. So I downloaded it via eDonkey and saw it... then I knew why !!! :(
My view on the main characters:
Mr. Fantastic: By far not as good portrayed as in comics but also not that bad. Alex Hyde-White is one of the best actors in this film (if you'll call the other ones actors).
Invisible Girl: Very good looking in her uniform !!! Can't remember anything else memorable from Rebecca Staab, sorry!
Human Torch: Only two words: Hot Shot! ...it seemed like it was printed on Jay Underwood's forehead... "Look, I'm Johnny Storm and I'm always over(re)acting!"
The Thing: Oh my god! What did they do with the mighty Thing ?!? Can you imagine how a kid of Ben Grimm and a Ninja Turtle would look like? Then you got it !!! Even the guy with foamed plastic, that you can rent for birthday party from Marvel looks more like the Thing than this reptile!
Dr. Doom: I knew that Dr. Doom wears a metal mask (which by the way was good work in the film), but what I didn't knew was the fact that Dr. Doom is gesticulating like an Italian! There wasn't much majesticallity with an attitude like "You don't see my face, so all my acting is reduced to fidget with my arms like a puppet!
The Jeweler: Who is he? Did I miss him in comics? He seemed to me like a bad parody of the arch-enemies Joker and Penguin in the Batman movies...
The plot was awful, written for four-year-old-retards!
And why have so many things to be changed? Example:
Q: What gave the FF their power? A: Cosmic Radiation! :) Q: Noooooo, it was Colossus !!! A: ??? ...which Colossus? The Russian pal from the X-Men? :-o Q: No! The crystal, Dr. Doom and the Jeweler are after !!!
A: Crystal? Ah, you mean the Inhuman !?! :) Q: Noooo it's just a f****** crystal... A: And who the heck is the Jeweler ??? :-o
It was the worst marvel movie I've seen so far (except of course for Howard, the Duck)! Even the Captain America movie from 1991 was better!
For more opening-eyes-info read the trivia section of this film !!! :)
And if you really want some FF-action wait till the new movie comes up next year !!! (they are filming right now!)
Greetings LoganSan

I've read many reviews before I actually saw Trekkies and I must admit that I was pleasingly surprised! It isn't as bad as many people want to make you believe... actually I find it very interesting and entertaining. True, there are some really weird people in it, but weird also means NOT boring. And I don't mean only in the film, I also mean in live!
I think, only StarTrek fans who take themselves too much serious, believe that the people who are shown in Trekkies were portrayed as freaks. I agree that they picked up some real extreme examples of StarTrek fandom, but as mentioned by Peanuthead before, that's what makes the film so interesting: "It's capacity to make you think!"
And anybody who thinks that they better had shown some "cooler" fans is missing the point! StarTrek fandom isn't about being cool or stylish, it's about enthusiasm, about devotion and about being what you want to be. It's about being yourself and enjoying it, to stay to yourself and not denying what you are or what you love. Not every fan has to live it out like that, but everybody who wants to, is free to do! Sometimes people actually want to be different, not necessarily to be someone special, just to be not like everyone else...
Sometimes this can cause extreme examples, but think about it, where does the term "fan" come from? ...right, it's the short form of fanatic! (And that's not necessarily always a negative term.)
At one or two occasions of the film I had to bear in mind the StarTrek/X-Men-Crossover-Novel "Planet X", where the character Archangel is pushing it over the edge with Captain Picard to test this unknown community of the future, which claims itself to be so liberal and tolerant...
Think about it and you probably think about yourself.

P.S.: Don't mind my bad English... :)

It's not as bad as some people want to make you think. "Time Masters" is much better, but if you like "Time Masters" (and like it much more than "The Fantastic Planet") then you'll probably like "Gandahar" (aka "Light Years") too.
It's true, it has a lot of talk, but that's because it HAS a real story instead of other so called adult animation movies. The music wasn't bad (I even find it good), but especially one music was getting on my nerves at the end of the film. The animation isn't a breakthrough either, but with it's light effects and the fantastic backgrounds it was 100 times better than the animation in Fantastic Planet. On the other hand it's falling to dust if compared to the best Japanese animation films at that time like "Akira" for example.
Go and decide for yourself!
