Admitedly there is a homoerotic vibe about the movie but in Interview with the vampire and many other vampire books and movies it's the same. It's not so much the Gay or straight vibe with vampires it's more of a case of "What ever makes you feel good do it" and if that means one guy lusting after another guy then so be it. However it is understandable that the head guy Devin would pay so much attention the Chris' body due to the fact he wants to use that body for the next 100 years. If I had to choose a body to live in for the next century I wouldn't just pick anyone, I would want to choose a cute one, I mean come on, no one in their right mind would want to look like Freddy Krueger ( for lack of a better example ) for the next 100 years. I would so pick a cute body, because what's the point of living forever if you can't enjoy yourself? This movie isn't all that bad, I have seen much much worse. After reading through the other comments though I have to say that perhaps these people should look more into the vampireism scene, it's not all kind of strange but good looking vampire sees helpless girl with large chest and over exposed neck, try reading an Anne Rice novel, vampires and becoming a vampire is portrayed as a love affair with death no matter what sex the people are whether it be same sex or opposites, vampireism goes beyond normal sexuality, it's seemingly a higher level of lust/love however primal it seems as it revolves around blood. Being ignorant to these facts would make this movie look like some gay movie where the director got carried away, however if you know a little bit about the mythology and lifestyle you see it as more. However the ending was a bit of a let down, it was clever but was acted out in a rush and not enough time was spent on it.

My mark is 8 out of 10 a good idea, not bad script, good actors, but the filming was too rushed.

Vampire High has recently started showing on Sky One and I have been watching it since the first episode, ok that may only be three so far ( correct at time of press 23/07/01 ) but I think it is a good program. It's not quite "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" but it's got potential.
