I remember hearing about this film and decided to watch it on a whim

While I understand some of the negative press about it, I also don't.

You've got a bunch of neurotic people and situations colliding together around the most hectic time of year. One situation is a closing helpline, a pregnant woman woth a Deadbeat and a transgender woman played by Liev Schreiber stops by the place

With a cast including: Steve Martin, Rita Wilson, Madeline Kahn and festuring up and coming actors Adam Sandler, Juliette Lewis, and Liev Schreiber

It's not a "good" movie, yet I recognize that it's one that has been a treat around Christmas time and then it goes back on the shelf until I think of it again.

Watching it as a kid, I saw it as the story of a family that struggles when their matriarch is no longer the rock she has been

Today, that family is triflin and I would have gone no contact with all of them

Maxine is a hater and runs to Teri when she needs money

Bird does the same and interferes with her husband's job search

Ahmad is nosy af and witnesses a lot of the story.

But overall, it is quite a triumph and a very poignant reminder of how family may stick together if they love each other, but not like eachother.

I would recommend but also, seeing how they did Teri, I'm just disgusted.

Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson return as foster brothers and partners as Transit Cops. They spend time as decoys to catch thieves

John (Snipes) is the responsible one while Charlie (Harrelson) is the screw up gambler who gets into all kinds if mess John cleans up.

There's lots of ironic humor as the scene when Charlie on his way to pay a gambling debt gets bumped by an old lady, then witnessing "the bump" happen to another passenger realizes he got got by the old woman.

The film also deals with brotherly loyalty and a romance angle where the two like the same woman

It's enjoyable, quite amusing, and a decent time passer.
