A lot of virtue signaling in the 1/10 reviews. Honest review? This is the best Reality game show entertainment I've seen yet. Jimmy makes an excellent host, the challenges and contestants responses provide an actual platform for intellectual and physiological discussion. Nothing is malicious or dystopian. They are actual responses by actual people who were lucky enough to compete, even if they are immensely disappointed. The darker tone is important, I believe. You get to see all sides of humanity. Wish there was more content like this. If the intent was to make a bubbly, only fun show were people won money than it failed. But if it was to create an environment in which to test the resilience, endurance, loyalty, and character of its contestants then it succeeded with flying colors 9/10.
Just finished watching Six Days in August in theatres. Very professionally and creatively made film. The cinematography was awesome, the score was moving, and, while it seemed the writers struggled sometimes to narrow down the elements necessary for their story, the acting portrayed by the actors (particularly with John Donovan Wilson) was superb. The ensemble cast did a fantastic job of carrying the story and providing the audience with a close look into the days after the LDS prophets death. Definitely would recommend seeing in theatres. Very well made and would hope that the film's reach keeps extending.
Christopher Nolan used to be able to be counted on for delivering high quality, thought provoking, educated films that never ventured into the explicit (be it sex, nudity, or language). The majority of his previous films were standards of excellence, always looked forward to, and never required audiences to worry about what content they were about to see. I think many Hollywood professionals underestimate the amount of viewers who filter entertainment they see by their individual moral codes and consciences. Great storytelling (especially in writing) should be able to be portrayed without relying on the explicit. Would have loved to have been a Oppenheimer fan, but unfortunately Nolan has excluded viewers like myself from his latest film.
