Many of the criticisms are absolutely correct. There are for eg. cuts from movies & European shots claiming to be from the Pacific theatre & vice versa. Ultimately this is important to veterans, historians and the children, like me, of those who participated who are amateur historians because they were trying to understand their fathers or mothers who were involved in these awful events. I'm guessing but think that this series was more designed for the grand & great grandchildern of participants or young people from neutral countries or those whose countries disavow their wartime actions by not being frank in the teaching of their own history. The obvious culprit in this is the revisionist history of the era still being taught to Japanese children to this day. All countries have done this, Japan is to me the most obvious. It is true that the victors write the history so each country has it's own version. This is the point. We are all human & pretty well hardwired for conflict. The more our young people can see, if only we had smell-o-vision, just how pointless & wasteful ALL war is the better our world would be. Fewer weapons clearly lead to fewer conflicts. I can clearly remember a vet telling me that he was by far more fearfull of his allies air forces than that of the enemy because the allies shot,bombed or otherwise attacked anything that moved regardless of who it might be. Dosen't matter who was who. Human involvement equals human errors. The one,relatively small, criticism I would make of this series regards the English subtitles which appear to me to have been written by a non native English speaker or a computer. The meaning is clear,mostly, but the nuance is missing. Let's remember that this was written for people with little or no prior knowlege of the events portrayed.not those few left who were present or have been studying it of years

Huge fun & very watchable if a bit twee. The wonder at & applications of new tech. are delightful. Unfortunately had to stop watching some years ago 'cause I couldn't hear it anymore. Blame the '70s. If you can hear ok then not to be missed. Gosh I like Steampunk type stuff & I was born mid '50s hence the '70s related hearing loss. Please only watch if you want to have fun. Go Canucks.

Well, I'll stick my neck out & say that I think the great JB enjoyed himself making this movie & was happy to not be the " star ". I'm ignorant of the genre but seems that Mr. Kyser is the big name here based on his musical skills & radio profile. Ish, what can we say about Ish ... " What is the difference between a duck ?" This guy was a long haired pot smoker 25 years before the rest of the world caught up. No folks here we have The Nanny, with minor twists, in 1941. The major characters are there, check it out. Any plot line that could support a TV series with less that great entertainers, in any field, has no problem sustaining 95 minutes with this cast. This movie is a hoot, enjoy it for the farce that Mr. Barrymore played it as.
