I have no knowledge of the stock market or investment. I have no idea what's going on in this movie for 100 minutes, so it's obviously hard for me to connect with it. However, it's not entirely the movie's fault. 'Margin Call' tries to explain the beginning of the 2008 financial crisis in our daily language as much as possible. The characters in the movie, all finance experts, repeat something like "Explain to me in English." or "I don't know how to read these things.", so they do not have to use jargon, economic theory, or financial reading of the charts.
Even though I didn't fully enjoy the storyline or content, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the movie. The tension, the drama, the politics are well delivered to the audience. Everything has to happen before the sunrise. With the time limit, everything gets tenser and tighter. I was engaged to figure out what choice characters would make at the end and to feel what they feel such as emptiness, hopelessness, guilt, fear, vanity, and selfishness. Actors do a good job of delivering those complicated emotions with balance.

The director could just blurt out and lash out at the corruptive political system in the U. S Capitol, but he builds up for the final moment as Miss Sloane would've done. When it comes to portray Sloane's lobbying and scheming, it's sharp and filled with betrayal. On the contrary, when the movie's about Madeline Elizabeth Sloane, it's layered deep. From the outside look of coldness to the core of sincerity and deep self-awareness. It was a freaking pleasure to get to know intriguing Miss Sloane, and Jessica Chastain makes it so much easier to fall for her and care for her. Her performance is phenomenal, embracing both cold and warm sides of Sloane with perfect balance.
The direction is consistent throughout. 'Miss Sloane' does not use many colors; rather, black and white combinations are more commonly used. The office setting, the caucus room, the airport scene, and her hotel room are linearly and strictly horizontally or vertically presented, augmenting unmoved and reserved narrative.
