What is up with basic story telling. This movie is an example of too many people interjecting their ideas...and no one telling them it's lame.

In this movie we go from great beginning to slow middle, to a blink of upbeat, to complete stop, to basic ending... Many of the characters were just about useless, including to kids. They weighted down the pace of the story to the point you were hoping they were knocked off.

And the whole "mother in law" story line was completely draining.

And lastly the two main characters had zero chemistry. I didn't believe they were in love at any point during this movie. And that along with the rest of the movie, made it a "Watch While You Clean" movie.

The good news is this movie looks great. The water is just as, if not better looking than the first film. The characters also look and move so well that you really do get drawn in. I always use a character's hair to gauge how well the animators did...and in this film they really outdid themselves.

However, the story and sadly the songs both did not make the grade. After watching it for the first time I asked my family to explain what happened and all three of them had a different interpretation. We also could not name 1 song or name any of the new crew mates. In fact, the cutest new addition, Moana's little sister's name faded away from our memories as we entered the parking lot of the theater.
