I found this movie rather disappointing considering George Clooney was the star. It is very slow paced and the whole point of the movie was very hard to fathom. It rambles on in its incredibly slow way, with Clooney puttering about almost aimlessly it seemed. I suppose the ending was rather predictable - at least it turned out to be exactly what I expected although the lead character seemed not to get the message.

I suppose the directing was of an attempt to be artistic but for me this was more like making it rather boring due to both the pacing and the seemingly lack of any interesting story.

It will appeal, I suppose, to those who favour supposedly arty films but it is just not for everyone.

I watched the trailer for this movie and had hopes with what appeared to be a promising plot and a well known actor in the lead. But it started off so slowly that I really started to become irritated that the story could not develop. Watching paint dry would have been more engrossing. It seemed full of irrelevant arty interludes such as cars passing in the street or other totally pointless scenes that would have made the pace of the movie more watchable if they had been cut out in editing.

It was not long before I just started jumping ahead to try to get the story to unfold more quickly - but I finally gave up about half way through the movie. I would say it was one of the slowest and most boring movies I have watched in recent times.

I don't understand the other high ratings for this movie - it must appeal to a very specialized group of movie watchers!

Perhaps it depends om your age but the 1960's were a decade of incredible change in popular music. This movie brought back to me so many of the feelings I had as a teenager in that decade.

Sure it was almost a dream that the world could have had no Beatles and their impact, but who could not relish the music and a charming romance even if it was fictitious.

I was totally engrossed in the film despite all and would highly recommend it ti anyone who was a British teenager in those transformative year.
