First off i haven't read the book but i have read Mr. King for decades.This story is goes deep in many levels of human behavior,as mr king always does.I believe that its centers around control first,than fear but still thinking we are in control .We humans think about the result so much we forget about the journey that is what life is ... the journey and who we spend it with.just my thoughts.well it seems i have to have ten lines of text because IMDb thinks it knows how someone should review or explain themselves.seems a little contradictive to me considering its just an opinion why are their standards for my opinion and how long it is so relative...sigh so is the world.

Now i watched the original film and i liked it,but it was a low budget film..and i love low budget films.This was a great bigger film of a small film,now i read how someone didn't like the CGI blood and didn't care about the characters..are FFFFFnnn kidding me!Why cant people enjoy films anymore?Because they all think their critics.Well i loved this one made my night.If you like horror comedy this one the one to watch.Just the opening sequence got me into it now there is all the clichés of high school and jocks and cheerleaders but thats what we know,am i right.Good vs evil teenage style.In closing i put this up as at least a seven,hell crack a beer and have some fun.

this movie is much different than most low budget that i see...and believe me when i say low budget(i watch them all).its disturbing not from a gore or shock element but from a real story and yes it is a revenge type movie but.. even at 2 hours long (which isn't typical for something labeled as low budget) i had to watch all of it.i thought the actors were very believable..cause they made me hate them they were evil and mean.college and high school years are though enough but just plain peer pressure and girls and wanting to fit in makes this movie very real and you can relate to it.now there are flaws but i can live with them like the families never look for the lost students or people don't notice their roommates are gone but if you want to watch a damn good b horror movie that has some thought behind it than watch this one.
