I got to attend the movie premiere held in Fort Worth, Tx and it was a fun time. I liked the movie. It's a good story about family and how important it is to stick together and forgive the past. The health scare is suspenseful and if you like watching bull riding there is plenty of it in the second half of the film. They even have real bull riders from the PBR circuit. The bull riding competition was a real nail biter. It is a family friendly movie so no reason to keep the kids at home. It might be a smaller independent film but it didn't come off as cheap or corny. If you don't see it on the big screen you'll be able to fine it on the Angel Studios app.
Uninteresting story line and rather unlikeable characters. I'm assuming we are supposed to give a pass because they are "artists" ugh. I watched 3 episodes and that was enough. I'm rather surprised the rating is so high. I subtitles are a pain. The fast paced cadence so iconic for these creators works better with a comedy and this show isn't particularly funny. After watching the actor who played Lenny Bruce play a comedian I find it hard to buy him as the artistic director of a famous ballet. Most of the characters take off after giving a bratty tirade. No way for adults to get anything done.
Not a bad movie. It actually had a plot which you can't say about a lot of movies anymore. Thankfully subtitles did not dominate. The penguin was cute. It dragged a little bit by the end. It would have been nice if they'd done some flash backs or something to give more context why the main character was the way he was for 2/3s of the film. Also I would have liked more time showing how the classmates bonded in the end. It was heartfelt and you could really see how the characters came out of their shells in different ways because of the penguin. I recommend this movie. It has a positive and hopeful message.
