If you like Jodie Foster, then see this movie. She's is still an excellent actress and, Kristen Stewart, who plays her 12 year old daughter, is just as good! This kid was remarkable in this film. It was fun, exciting, and tense on the whole but I was distracted by a few "holes" in the story. For example, it bugged me that she didn't tip off the police when they FINALLY arrived at her door. The premise being she couldn't say a word because she was being watched on a security camera by the "villians" but in actuality they couldn't "hear" her so she could have easily alerted the police that she was in trouble.
Another scene which really didn't make sense was in the first 1/2 hour of the film when the thieves break into her home and realize someone has actually moved into the once vacant house and now lives there. Any good villian would know to leave and come back later when it is safer; namely, when no one was home. DAH! And I'm not even in the robbery business!! All in all, I enjoyed it.

I watched this movie for the first time on TNT last night and was totally blown away. Peggy Ann Garner who plays Francie is a brilliant actress...and at such an early age. I remember we had to read the book in school in the 1960's (!) but I never saw the movie until now. The characters were so convincing, I was transported to Brooklyn, circa early 1900's and never left for 2 hours and 20 minutes. I went to bed thinking about this movie and woke up this morning with it's after affect still lingering in my mind. A "must see" for everyone of all ages. This one's a gem.
