I mostly disagree with Peter-991's review of this movie. The Aviator was very good and well-acted and I do not think Leonardo DiCaprio was miscast at all; on the contrary, I thought he gave one of his best performances and may very well be on his way to an Academy Award for Best Actor. Howard Hughes is a complex and enigmatic character who must have been exceedingly difficult to portray. And one must remember that this film covers the early years of his life, so if the resemblance to Hughes doesn't kick in until the Senate hearings (with the mustache, etc...) then perhaps that's why. Also, the scene at the beginning with is mother was gross but very necessary to the plot. This shows the very foundation for his mental illness and the way she warped his mind against illness and germs through her dialog with him. I agree that Cate Blanchett was very effective as Katharine Hepburn and probably also deserves a Best Supporting Actress nod. However, I felt that Alan Alda, while good in the role, was simply being Hawkeye as an old man. I would recommend this movie as a very compelling look at a man who was brilliant yet also had some very heavy issues in his life.

I love this show, largely due to Faith Ford and Kelly Ripa. I really like both of them and they have super chemistry together. I also really like Ted McGinley as Hope's husband, and I usually laugh out load at his silly lines. However - the real problem lies within the "kids" on the show. And I use the term loosely because the new Sydney must be 25 or 26 years old - c'mon casting people, where are your eyeballs and brains?? There is no way Faith Ford could biologically be this woman's mother, unless she was supposed to have had her illegitimately in junior high school. The original Sydney was perfectly cast. In my opinion, they should have only cast two kids, both girls, to reflect the personalities of Hope and Faith, as younger versions of themselves. The original Sydney should mirror Faith Fairfield, and the younger Haley should mirror her sensible mom, Hope. Justin, the son, is becoming an over-the-top caricature of himself; no little kid talks like that. They really dropped the ball when they cast the kids and CHANGED Sydneys in season two. But overall it's a great sitcom due to the two stars of the show.

I actually do like this movie, because I'm a huge fan of Doris Day and anything she's ever starred in. However, the only contrary thing I can say about this movie is that I feel that David Niven was miscast as her husband... he's simply too old for her! Keeping in mind that he was supposed to be her college professor at one time, I guess it can be somewhat rationalized, but still! Niven's character is having some sort of cranky mid-life crisis, and he gets great fulfillment from living in NYC and enjoying his newfound celebrity as a play critic. Doris, however, wants to move to the suburbs and have a full-time husband for her four young sons... someone who is happy to stay around the house and volunteer at the local elementary school. How these two mis-matched people can forge a marriage out of such differences is beyond me. That aside, the acting is great and the story line is engaging. If you like '60s comedies, and good wholesome entertainment, this movie is highly recommended... Doris Day is great!
