After the guilty (far too old to be it's intended audience) pleasure of Veronica Mars I stumbled across this series trying to find something else by Rob Thomas ...and what a gem! The contrast between Ron(KEN MARINO)'s touchingly earnest efforts, while his team of caterer's resent every minute of a temporary, crappy job is pitch perfect.
Also, eccentric clients (every episode is at different gig) provide some great guest cameos (Steven Weber's is my current favourite). The cringe-worthy situations that develop and basis of characters 'on the edge' of show-business remind me of Ricky Gervais's 'Extras' - but this is FAR funnier. The weakest element so far is the romance but let's see what happens with it. I just ordered the DVD of series 1 too. Bravo all involved!

This was a delight - easily the best SF film I've seen in years, with characters I cared about, brilliant effects and an interesting vision of the future as a backdrop for the adventure. Loved the sly humour too! Later I found the connection with the original series Firefly (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/combined ) and borrowed a copy - watching this is highly recommended but it's a bittersweet pleasure as it was cancelled after very few episodes by someone who *must* need their head examined...
I've bought the Firefly DVD and will definitely watch it (and Serenity) again in the future, but I urge you to see this movie while it's on the big screen :-)

... for Who is to Say it Will Not Become a Dragon?
The Water Margin is justly regarded as a cult TV show in the UK where the entire 26 episode run has been shown 3 times since 1976. Originally a 13th century Chinese epic, this TV series was made in Japanese and then dubbed into English before screening by the BBC.
I'm not going to include any spoilers, but simply say it's a tale of chivalry. If you try it your curiosity will be well rewarded. Also it has what must be the most heroic TV theme ever...
Oh ~ and it shouldn't be confused with either the 1972 Shaw Brothers film of the same name, or the oddball 1999 'Water Margin: Heroes' Sex Stories'.
'...One wrong can move a people, and a wronged people can move the world.'
