Mira/The Last Signal has the best special effects I have seen.
C. G. I. was never detectable to me.
Almost the whole movie was special effects made from the viewer perspective such that you felt involved yourself when there was action.
The attention to detail was high.
Scene after scene appeared at a breathtaking rate during action segments, and it was astounding how they could make so many scenes with such difference, detail, and quality.
The plot, although done before, was saved by an original idea about communication.
One must wonder if politics can be used to explain the omission of Oscar nomination.

The original 1979 Mad Max launched the Action Movies we see today. It was the first!! It was a revelation. I urge people to see it and bear in mind that it was made well before CGI and surround sound.
My interpretation of Furiosa is that it is a modern day tribute to the feel of the original that, as a proud Australian, I saw in '79 and was blown away. I loved all the inventiveness of the cobbled-together from junk vehicles etc. And the whole movie was peppered with novel ideas.
I expected and looked for tons of CGI but what little I found was not distracting. For instance, if viewers of Furiosa thought those vast distance scenery shots were CGI, I can tell you there are places like that in Central Australia.
If you have yet to see Furiosa, see the '79 Mad Max first.

I see it as an attempt to make the Western movie to end all Westerns by dishing up every feature of every Western minus stagecoaches and Indians. At the same time it is almost a parody
Think your gun-totin, hard-drinking, unsavoury characters, henchmen, caricatures, dusty street lined with bars & professional ladies, street duels, hangings, quick draws, gun twirling, cross arms shooting, cussin, spittin, boots with spurs on at all times dress code, theavin, etc etc.
The whole movie is held together by us waiting for the outcome of the next duel and studying the technique of the draw, plus some sub-plots.
All acting (especially by Hackman) save Sharon Stones who never seems right somehow, laughably appearing in a ball gown at one stage, is excellent.
