This is exactly the type of Star Wars adults who grew up watching the IP want and deserve.
It's the best Star Wars installment Disney has made since "Rogue One", which is the inspiration of this series. Set 5 years before the events of "Rogue One", this series follows Cassian Andor. Fans of "Rogue One" will remember him as the person who recruited Jyn Erso back into the rebellion.
If "Rogue One" followed the average solider, "Andor" follows the average person living under imperial control. It's fascinating! Following the rich & powerful and the poor & desperate, as they begin to realize the government they once supported has gone from democracy to Stalinist.
No Jedi battles, no epic heroes. Just the grunts, spies, leaders, and financiers who sacrificed everything to win the war against an oppressor. This is a depiction of the type of people, who in the real world, won freedom and liberty for us all. None of them are in history books or have monuments.
Other than "The Madolorian", this is the only Disney Star Wars TV worth a fans time. It's WELL worth your time. After completing it, I plan to Watch "Rogue One" again, with much more meaning. I can't wait for a second season of this Star Wars Masterpiece.

I wanted to like this. I even watched a synopsis of the original film to understand the backstory. I'm a huge fan of Chiwetel Ejiofor in his past work. Still, I couldn't get past the third episode.
It's unwatchable. Not because of a poor plot or acting. Rather, the way this is filmed and edited is like trying to remember a blackout drunk. It reminds of of shaky cam footage movies. Constantly popping around in time and space in a single scene. Maybe there is an audience for this type of filming, but I am not that audience.
The way this is filmed and edited does not match up with the type of slow burn SciFi that has been written. It's like the writers and producers were making totally different shows.
If you like slow burn SciFi, avoid this! If you dislike disjointed filming and production, or shaky cam type movies, avoid this! If you get high on a hallucinogen daily, give it a try.

This show reminds me of "The Dev's". Maybe that was an apple production too? I can't remember (ha to anyone who has watched). The plot is not similar, but the direction and production are similar. Speaking to plot, the story is very intriguing
The writing starts off really strong and creates mystery. As a matter of fact, outside of the 8th episode, which is a total mess of weirdness, the writing is solid throughout.
Acting is very good, with many great, time tested actors involved. There are many possible interpretations of what this represents. I get a Scientology vibe, but I can't imagine a TV show that is negative about that cult, since half of Hollywood is involved with promoting it.
Here's the problem... What could have been a 8/10 turns into a bit of a flop.. Serial shows are the new norm. As they should be, given the medium of streaming and "binge watching". However, after 9 episodes of my time, I got NOTHING in resolution. As fun as the journey was, it ended as a waste of my time.
Series makers in the serial streaming genre need to learn that you can not hold an audience on 6-10 episode seasons without resolution. Now, assuming the show isn't canceled, like most, the viewers are supposed to wait 2 years to get a few more episodes? Sorry, no! Any excitement I have for this series died when the first season provided no resolution to the major plot arcs.
This is why streaming serial series like "Stranger Things" do so well. Each season brings a logical end point with more to come from the characters and universe we have come to love. This show does not end, so it feels like an utter waste of time. Maybe we will see more, maybe not, if we do, it's years away.
Writers need to learn the medium they are writing for, if they write a serial binge worthy show, then give each season a satisfying conclusion!!! This is why "The Dev's" was good and this was not.
