I really think this was a neat little special. Being on the poor side, I could really identify with the suspicion of the downstairs staff towards the upstairs family. I found the patriarch to be disdainful and I really could see the pain in the matriarch's homely sister. I'd like to speculate that most of society today is more kin to the upstairs family, but I could definetely see the rewards that came as being part of the downstairs staff; there wasn't time for many of today's ills: depression, boredom, isolation, et al. The most intriguing player was the first butler's aide, Charlie Clay. By God, he's the most handsome man I've seen since Tom Cruise in Losin' It. Will we see more him? Overall, 9 stars.
I know that spoofs of popular films were the 'in' thing a couple of years ago, but come on! This piece of garbage makes 'Scary Movie 2' look like Citizen Kane. My dear producers, if you wanted to make a good spoof of 'Blair', you needed look no further than 'Blair 2' (which while being spoofy, also kept my attention). I mean, what was with the shaky camera scenes and the convoluted assortment of short stories? I'm sorry that I actually wasted time in my life to watch this crap.
Anyone who has seen this movie will tell you that it was by far the best performance by an actor this year. Forget Nicole Kidman. Ewan McGregor was the runaway star of this film. His character's love for the courtesan was so real. I truly believed every aspect of his character: his joyous outlook on life, his heartfelt belief in love above all else, his spontaneous and beautiful rendering of song (especially 'Come What May' and the 'Elephant Love Song'). Forget Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington, or Russell Crowe. For your consideration, Ewan for Best Actor!
