Just plain silly. I have loved all of the Superman movies beginning with the 1978 Christopher Reeve classic, and including the 2006 Brandon Routh "Superman Returns." Henry Cavill's Superman movies were enjoyable even "Batman vs Superman" and "Justice League." This latest effort is a hot mess. Too many comic characters, too much disjointed stuff happening in the first half hour and too much explaining what everyone is about to do and why they are doing it. Watching Superman get beat up every 10 minutes was a bit much. I only watched it all the way to the end in the hopes it would get better. It didn't.

I am at home recovering from hip replacement surgery and can't do very much moving around so I have been watching Christmas movies. This one was a delight. I love the way the characters played off of each other with good dialogue and great acting. It's not going to win many awards but it is so much fun to watch something that you can just sit back and enjoy and not take seriously. It will be joining It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, and Christmas Vacation as one of my annual Christmas movies. This one is a real winner and just brightened up my day completely. Truly truly enjoyed it and will certainly watch it again.

The writing was really bad on this one. I guess if the cast is young people instead of mature adults, they drop f-bombs in every other sentence. That turned me off very quickly. With the exception of Andy, the characters were all very shallow and pretty unlikeable. Long before the movie was over I got to the point where I hoped they all got wiped out! I also didn't like how dark everything was. I understand they were in a space vehicle but the darkness just made it difficult to see some things that were happening. I was very disappointed in this effort and hope that if they can't do any better than this, it needs to be the last one.
