As my title says, acting is everything and you get it in spades with this film. While it might be interesting to see Tom Hanks play a serial killer, that's not his forte - this role is what he is best at - a good, upstanding man. He is ably supported in the Command Module and the LM by Bill Paxton and Kevin Bacon, both fine actors. Those who were born after 1990 might not, because of their experience with new technology, be quite as thrilled as my generation (I was born in 1961) with what the astronauts and those at Mission Control accomplished during this flight. They used slide rules, for Pete's sake! I think we still need that kind of knowledge today, since one can never know when the world might suffer a loss of power with no way to run computers, TVs, or recharge cell phones, Kindles, etc. I must mention some other actors who made this movie as fine as it is, including Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, and Kathleen Quinlan. I've watched this film many times, and the suspense never ends. Oh - another about-out goes to composer John Williams for his fine, stirring score.
