Expected to have some laughs with this movie. It was an attempt at slapstick comedy, the like of Aadu and Aadu 2 which have been successful in the recent times. But this movie doesn't do any justice to the comedy genre. There is no believable story, characters, or plot points to talk about. The story goes through apparently unconnected events and tries to bring some synergy to them all, but it fails miserably across the board. To the people enjoying the comedy genre, this is not even a one-time watch. The only redeeming aspect of the movie is its length which is just about 1.5 hours. That makes it somewhat tolerable.
Vaathi is such a great movie with an amazing message. Yes, parts of the movie can be a little dramatic. But it's all okay since it is firm on a brilliant message of giving education to backward and poor people of our community. Dhanush as the blameless teacher has really scored well throughout the movie. And the rest of the cast including Tanikela Bharani, Samuthirakani, Saikumar, Samyukta, etc., have done great. And it was a treat to see the great Bharatiraja do a cameo as well.
Today in India we see a lot of movies focusing on negative shade characters, drunkards, thieves, dons, etc., but nobody is really bothered about creating a movie focused on educated people who are actually contributing something to the society. This movie is a simple step towards changing this mindset. Hopefully, we will move away from violence in movies to more social causes and make positivity cool.
