This is not a movie for dumbed down kids.

If you fed your kid on a diet of modern Hollywood movies marvel style ; filled with a hundred frames per second action scenes to a point your child cant focus on a classic film narrative , before video game editing ruined a couple of generations of movie goers, then its no wonder some people here claimed their children were bored to death because they thought nothing happened in this movie.

This movie was actually more for adults than for children. This movie is for adults that were kids back in the day when they still could relate to other kids in films like The Goonies, Explorers, Flight of the Navigator and in particularly Stand by Me.

Crater is like a cross between Goonies and Stand by Me and the only film that got that retro classic vibe 100% right. Yes, way better than Stranger Things which always felt like a cheap clone of the 1980s style.

Crater is genuine. Its a fascinating scifi film with kids so ignore the usual science nerds who complain about every science detail not being academic.

The whole social and political background has enough depth to keep adults interested, the whole thing feels like a modern Robert Heinlein story like some Pokadyne of Mars prequel or something and the whole kids adventure works on its own too.

The characters are great, the kids are fantastic, the themes are more thought provoking than this movie needed to be and overall the whole film is incredible.

Its not a blockbuster but the concept design is fabulous, the sets are spot on, and the world building is one of the best I've seen in modern sci-fi. But above all Crater works because the kids feel like real people and the movie does a great job in treating the characters in a smart way while retaining that child innocence so well captured back in the 1980s in films like Stand by Me.

If you love Stand by Me and you like sci-fi you need to watch this movie. Someone must have done something wrong in modern Disney because this company actually managed to create one of the best products they did in almost two,decades.

I will buy this on bluray if it ever comes out.

Crater was a really good surprise and one of the best kids movies for grown ups in decades.

I was not expecting this. When i first started watching it i was expecting another of those ocean thrillers where a family boat is hijacked. This is not that type of movie.

I was not expecting the sci-fi angle but i loved it.

I dont know what movie other people saw or what were they looking for in a low budget production , but this is a fantastic b movie. It kept me guessing and i loved that it put a twist on every cliche. When i was expecting the usual something , something else happened and its clear the filmakers tried hard to surprise the audience.

Its a thin plot for sure, but compelling. I cared about the characters and overall i enjoyed the ride.

Another good thing is the set dressing when it comes to the use of real locations. This film has some really cool apocalyptic immagery and despite the low budget it tries hard to give the audience some creative visual treats.

The only thing that put me off was the cinematography. It felt too digital. Too much in your face filters and a screen size/lens choice that constrained the world it portraits. Its the pnly thing that makes this movie feel like a direct to video and not a full cinemstic experience.

Nevertheless i loved it from start to finish. Some good suspense moments , a great scifi concept, very cool imagery, great use of natural locations, good characters, and overall a much better low budget movie than what people say it is here on imdb.

If you enjoy scifi b movies, and want to see an adventure based on an original premise, give this one a go.

Its a great independent european production and it works.

I will be buying this on bluray if i find it available for sure.

9, out 10, for me bacause it suceeds in creating a good scifi survival adventure with a very low budget and it tries hard to surprise the viewer to a great degree of sucess.

I loved it.

I was not expecting to enjoy this movie so much. People compare it with Die Hard but to me it felt more like the awesome The Raid but with dark humor and some impressive fight coreographies.

Its a great action movie, super simple but much more creative than it seems at first glance.

The princess was a great character , charismatic an she did an excellent job with the fight scenes.

I will buy it on bluray for sure but so far it seems its not avalaible.

I loved the sets, the creativity in the diverse situations, the humor and the blood.

The silk route vibe of this particularly fantasy world also helped to dilute the race diversity which is rhere for woke reasons of course but its not center stage.

Overall i absolutely loved this movie. It was one of the best and most fun action movies since The Raid and the first John Wick.

The fantasy setting works, it has a good dose of creativity and its just pure fun.

I wish there would be another.
