This isn't the first time that the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame TV production of "Eagle in a Cage" was confused with the 1972 movie of the same name. The DVD referred to in the review above is the 1972 film, not the Hallmark TV version with Pamela Franklin. In the Hallmark version, the leads Trevor Howard and Pamela Franklin are reunited. Just three years earlier they were both in the 1962 movie "The Lion."

Yes, Craig, we remember it. Here it is over 25 years later and there are people who still remember. It turns out that most people that I've come across were closet fans of the show. They were devoted to the show and were surprised (and thrilled) whenever it leaked out that a friend down the street was as obsessed about the show as they were.

I've always felt one of the problems the show had though was they were on the one hand trying to appeal to a certain age group (age 8-15 or so) but then on the other hand they stuck those cartoons into the show (for little kids). We wanted to see more of the Mice! Plus Disney didn't give the Mice their fan mail until after the show was off the air, so the kids didn't even know the extent of their popularity until it was too late.

The 70's NMMC may have been referred to at the Forgotten Club (Lisa Whelchel has said that the New Mouseketeers sometimes refers to themselves as the "Forgotten Mice") but there are over 200 of us who haven't forgotten this special, little colorful show. It was great to see Mrs. Garrett, Blair, Natalie and Tootie -- oops I mean Dorothy -- again! Even though the cast had made a pact years ago to never do a reunion show, they were glad to sign on for this trip down memory lane once they read the script. Despite the absence of Nancy McKeon as Jo, it was an enjoyable TV movie. The best part was all the inside jokes that only true FOL fans would "get." There were plenty of references to past cast members and tie-ins to the old FOL episodes.
