Interesting that the story of the Battle of the Bulge involves 2 US Historians, 2 British Historians, 2 German Historians, and a British author. By the way, will somebody please throat punch James Holland???? He is absolutely the worst commentator of these documentaries. I can think of several who would be better: John McManus, Alex Kershaw to name a couple. And at one point, Max Hastings refers to Gen. Patton as "Georgie Patton". For Christ sakes, George Patton did more to win the war than Montgomery ever did, have a little respect. Yes, he was tough, yes he was bluster, but he got the job done when Montgomery was bogged down with his failed plan "Market Garden". If Patton would have had the gas for his operation instead of Montgomery, there would not have been a Battle of the Bulge, because the German lines would have been on the western edge of Berlin.

As with the Veggie Tales Videos, 3-2-1 Penguins! Is based on Christian Themes. What sets this video series apart is the humorous references and jokes in this series. Jason and Michelle are left at Grandmother's house while Mom and Dad take a small vacation. Bored beyond belief, Jason and Michelle discover the attic and some interesting souvenirs. Among them are 4 penguin figurines that Grandfather gave Grandmother on their honeymoon trip to the Falkland Islands. Jason also discovers a toy spaceship and the Penguins become it's crew. Imagination takes over and many adventures follow. Funny references to Star Trek, Science Fiction and popular culture while being educational for the kids.

I read the Stephen Ambrose book roughly 2 years before the mini-series came out. I kept my HBO Subscription just to see this series. The series faithfully stays to the way Dr. Ambrose presented the recollections of E Company men. In this series you see everything. Training, combat, comradeship. It is hard to keep dry eyes watching events unfold: The relentless shelling in the Bois Jacques during the Battle of the Bulge, the chill of hearing anti-aircraft fire hitting the airplanes during the drop into Normandy, hearing the real veterans at the beginning of each episode. You cannot come away from this not feeling attached to these men. I cannot praise this film enough.
