Absolutely hilairious. I was laughing for 5 minutes at some points, I felt like a grown-up who had discovered cartoons again. The laughs came thick and fast, Tom Green's imagination for pure wackiness is brilliant, chaos humour at it's most brilliant. Don't bother thinking about anything when you watch this movie, just watch him turn everything upside down. Farrelly Brothers watch out, you've been outdone!
This show is under-rated and deserves more acclaim. It is a fine series of far-out adventures which always keep you entertained. The dialogue is witty, the characters are perfectly cast and despite the low plausibility of some of the material this is always forgiven. The plot of some of the episodes ,aliens taking over the world, a corporate leader turning everybody into choose are as entertaining as many blockbuster films, and the storylines make constant reference to fairytales and make satirical references. This deserves to be bigger than it is, catch it if you can.
Bowfinger set around the concept of a director out to make his feature despite the fact that there is no star, and this director deciding to take matters into his own hands has the makings of a very good film .And in most ways this works. Some of the scenes featuring their star who is unaware are hilarious. However at moments, the film stretches the credibility of the situation a little too far, especially when Kip's lookalike brother comes along and could have someone like Heather Graham walk in on their audition just like that. But apart from these examples of artistic licence ,the economy of plausibility doesn't ruin what was a very amusing 1 and a half hours. The independent director foiling a plot to make a movie against Hollywood's odds was full of Steve Martin's trademark offbeat wackiness, but the laid-back pace of the film doesn't quite deliver the Steve Martin witty wackiness quite as fast as features such as Father Of The Bride & Housesitter. If you like what is admittedly yet another take on Hollywood and have enjoyed films such as "Get Shorty" and "Postcards From The Edge", then you will probably forgive the discrepanicies and the fact that when needed things come together just a little too conveninently. You can get on with enjoying Steve Martin playing the odds and getting himself into incredible situations trying to boobie-trap a star round tinseltown.
