The fact that some people on here think the "original" War of the Worlds was the 2005 film with Tom Cruise, shows the lack of thought and research behind some of these reviews. Most films today are remakes and this film is no different, but it's a lot worse. The original "War of the Worlds" came out in 1953 with Gene Barry and was based on the radio broadcast done by Orson Wells (that people thought was real) which was based on the book written by H. G. Wells. It's about giant aliens with tripod appendages coming to earth and killing humans in an attempt to take earth's natural resources.

It's attempt at originality by using shots of people at their computer screens or telephones while talking to each other has been done in other films and does not hold your attention. Ice Cube is probably a nice man but he's not much of an actor and that's being generous. Pass this one by, Amazon made a dud here.

I don't know if it's just Americans (and I am one) that are confusing this show with the "Great British Bake Off" but I don't think I am as this is something different. GBBO uses amateurs and this show, as the name implies, has professionals competing. It's true we don't see much baking per se, but we do see a lot of assembling of elements and then construction of masterpieces....if they work. I'm fine with all the hosts and am not easily offended as some others were. I watch this on a British tv streaming app which allows me to see it when it's being broadcast and I am able to see current episodes which I love.
