Mate-me Por Favor

Of late, I have developed a liking for Argentinian movies, after watching Aterrados. I've watched a number of Argentinian movies, after that. Similarly I watched this movie, deceived by the tag "horror". Really I don't know what is there in this movie, to praise. I am really shocked to see a review comparing this piece of crap to the masterpieces directed by David Lynch. I think most of the good reviews are paid reviews. This movie is highly pretentious. That's all. There is definitely no horror, no plot, in short, this movie is a zero. Usually I don't write negative reviews. But this movie forced me to write such a harsh review, because I nearly wasted two hours of my precious time. So guys, don't be tricked by false reviews or misleading tags or beautiful girls in the movie. Stay away from this crap.

Kill me Please (Mat-me por favor) is a different film. A youth sex comedy with more mystery than comedy, and more kissing than sex. Still there are some good laughs, and a couple of good screams. You really never know where the film will take you, and as such I found it very exiting.

In Barra de Tijuana in the richer outer parts of Rio de Janeiro we meet a gang of usually bored youths full of hormones, living a sheltered life. Well, that's until a serial killer turn up in the neighborhood. Young Bia is very fascinated by the killings, especially when she and her best friends find one one the girls in the bush, just before her life runs out. Bia is obsessed with sex, and her cute boyfriend Paulo, gives in to her needs, though he'd really like to keep away from sex until marriage, and tries to get Bia a bit more religious.

More shouldn't be said, but the film is filled with great stuff, well filmed, and great and well suited soundtrack. he film is never boring, and we find a lot of mystery going on. Bia's mysterious brother is also taking a great part.

The writer and director Anita Rocha da Silveira has made an exiting, beautiful, drama thriller with horror elements which is difficult to forget, and is most certainly taking the Brazilian youth right on the head. She has told her inspirations are David Lynch, Dario Argento, Brian De Palma and Claire Denis, and this is quite obvious. Especially Lynch mystery can be found here.

The director Anita Rocha da Silveira really wishes she was David Lynch or David Cronemberg... This movie is a BORING atempt to make something artsy and deep that turns out to be shallow and... I don't even have words... bad I guess!

Annoying characters and a stupid story that makes you look at your watch every 5 minutes wondering how much more it will take to make to the end!!!

It's seems unfair that in a country where making a movie is such a struggle like Brazil, some talentless filmmaker can make garbage like this while others will never havee the chance!

And also the cast is terrible and the soundtrack is AWFUL!

OJT's review incorrectly calls the neighborhood Barra de Tijuana. The correct name is Barra da Tijuca. Tijuana, in Mexico, actually lays 10.000km from Rio de Janeiro.

Kanabuma repeatedly states his liking of other Argentinian movies. This movie is not Argentinian at all, it's from Brazil. This is akin to confusing the US with Mexico.
