Anjaan - a much awaited Don story of this year with a great crew in it, Surya, Vidyut, Samantha, Yuvan, Santhosh Sivan & Linguswamy. But the movie doesn't go well as expected...
Strength :
Surya's daring look :
Surya looks is daring in this movie. Seems to be the best ever look for Surya. Everyone is waiting to see his stylish look in the movie. The way he took the toothpick from his mouth in most of the scenes was awesome.
Yuvan's music:
Its bang bang all over the world. Rocking intro song by Yuvan made the movie to rock. Kadhal Aasai with Yuvan style with superb visuals its a treat to audience.
Santhosh Sivan:
Santhosh Sivan cinematography was the great plus point in this movie. His visuals of Mumbai was awesome.
Weakness:
Story and Screenplay:
As a much awaited Don story it doesn't have any daring scenes. Billa 2 was not a huge hit, but its having many mass scenes which is missing in this movie. Movie goes very slow and its too boring in some scenes.
Length of the movie:
Length of the movie is almost 2 hrs 50 min which is another minus point. There are many unnecessary scenes such as Surya, Vidyut and Samantha dances for Hindi songs and Ek Tho Theen song (which cant be removed as it is sung by Surya).
Twists and turns:
There are too many twists and turns in the movie which are easily predictable by audience. Whatever Lingu thought its gonna be a great twist was guessed by most of the audience easily.
Vidyut Role:
After Billa2 and Thuppaki Vidyut is doing his 3rd film in Tamil. In 1st two movies Vidyut role was awe somatic, there were many fan followers even though he was a villain. But in Anjaan he doesn't have a good role. Only one fight with Main villain was good. There is not much expected chemistry for Surya and Vidyut.
Facebook comments :
There are some Facebook comments to be noted
"Viswa Bhai is better than Raju Bhai"
"Both Vishwa and Raju Bhai failed to impress the audience"
"Before release Anjaan will be like Baatcha for Rajini, Billa for Ajith, Thuppaaki for Vijay. After release Anjaan is like Baaba for Rajini, Alwar for Ajith, Sura for Vijay.

If you are looking for an outstanding action plot (or) a perfect time- pass flick, then definitely this is not the film you are looking for.
First of all, the story is itself not well scripted and executed with a very average screenplay. Obviously the film contains few mass scenes and interesting sequences. But that is not alone enough to lift a movie up.
The major assets of the movie are, Suriya, Vidhyut Jamwal, Santhosh Sivan & few sequences in the first half. Suriya, as usual had nailed his role perfectly. But the director had made his characterization badly. Vidhyut Jamwal had a different role in this movie and he had also perfectly done his role. Cinematographer Santhosh Sivan had pictured Mumbai in a better manner.
The major negatives of the film are unwanted scenes in the second half and unexciting screenplay. The film lost its track somewhere in the second half and till climax, the director failed to bring the audience's attention back to the film.
Overall, this movie may be a stuff for Suriya fans where they can enjoy Suriya's screen presence in every frame. But for others, definitely this is not a film they could enjoy.

Anjaan!!!! Good Cast ,Santhosh Sivan with the Camera , Yuvan with the Music and the over-rated Lingusamy calling the shots is a disappointment.
Plot Review: The Movie Starts of well but slowly the guessing game becomes too easy. The Placement of songs is too pathetic. It seems Lingusamy has followed a formula that as soon as a villain is killed a song is to be played. You literally start praying for no more songs at a point when the director cruelly plagues you with one.
Acting: There is not much acting the actors can do when the story & script is such a big let down. Barring the 1 scene from Manoj Bajpai where he proves his class there is nothing much to say.
Pros: Nothing to be dead honest!! Bang Bang Bang Song may be. Cons: Story , Screenplay & Direction.

Even before release Linguswamy claimed it to be part Bashaa (1955) and part Nayagan (1987) both which are undoubtedly classics in Tamil cinema but it turned out to be a movie with loosely connected characters and sequences. There is little or no entertainment after the plot is revealed at the interval to keep the audience glued to their seats. You need not be a frequent movie goer to easily guess what would happen next.
Positives - Surya-Linguswamy combo, Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs and music, Santhosh Sivan Cinematography.
Negatives - Story, Screenplay, Comedy Sequences (Little or no comedy), supporting casts of dubbing (Vidyut Jamwal and others), duration of the movie (over 3hrs).
Verdict - Suriya in his many promotional interviews said he rejected three other scripts and choose Anjaan. But I doubt whether Anjaan is the best one he could pick. If you are looking for sensible and entertaining cinema I would recommend giving it a miss.

Anjaan, the Mumbai based gangster movie will not please all kind of the audience. Watch for Suriya, he is at his best especially his screen presence, style and of-course the fight sequence. Lingusami's most anticipated and hyped movie miserably fail to fulfill the expectation. Predictable twists and average screenplay definitely effected flow of the film. Krishna coming to Mumbai for finding his brother Raju, and how he will succeed in this, is the story of the Movie. Good team effort but lack of passion to deliver the awesome movie. Love scenes could have reduced bit and concentrate script and screenplay especially for a gangster movie. Director tried to add all elements such as friendship, romance, action, comedy and songs but, since weak screenplay and unconvincing twist there is nothing to make audience enthusiastic.
Positives : Screen presence of Suriya, Cinematography of Santhosh Sivan, Bang Bang song, BGM
Negatives : Direction, Twist, Dubbing

The bomb was the director's over confident speech. I would have given more stars if he didn't speak like this.
But everything was good: Characters, cinematography, bgm, songs etc...
Only negative which affected the movie was the director's speech

Even though the film is old wine in new bottle its is watchable Suriya is the backbone of the film film has a good first half and an average second half...Without some twists the story is predictable Suriya has done a great job with both roles but his hard work spoiled by bad screen play when coming to rest of cast, its not bad Samantha is charming...with lot of cleavage shows...she shocked as with 2 sec bikini.but in case of acting is average Vidyuth done a good performance.but his lip movements is bad others are just average coming to technical work,Santhosh sivan done a great job by his extra ordinary camera works Stunts are really good Back ground score is also good
Verdict:The movie is once watchable
Verdict:The movie is once watchable
ANJAAN MOVIE is commercial entertainment movie Director Linguswamy deals with a simple story revolving around a revenge film with some mass type one ( love, friendship and revenge).
Suriya looks smart and stylish performance too. But fail to impress. Surya should Could have been selected better story.
Samantha adds only glamor part of the movie.
Vidyut Jammwal is one of important pivotal role of the movie , but suriya & vidyut bonding friendship is fail to click.
Soori and Brahmanandam adds for comedy too, but not good- Huhhh.
Too many villains in the movie....
Yuvan Songs are very bad...
Santhosh sivan Camera adds best in the movie..
Dialogue are good but repeated often.
Pros: surya / Santhosh sivan Camera
Cons: Story / Music / Lengthy Screen play
Verdict : Only for surya fans.
Bhai bhai Raju Bhai... bore bhai..

The movie was good. Suriya and Vidyut acted very good in the movie. Songs and BGM in the movie was very good. But they presented it with no logic in some scenes.

Full action packed movie. It lacks bit of romance, 2 many songs and they doesn't sync with the movie. Routine story line with a revenge by his younger brother. There are twists in the movie which can add on some advantage to the script. Comedy is at the beginning and at the end for sometime which is enjoyable. Few comedy scenes are for no use at all (Brahmanandam Entry). They could have utilized Vidyut Jamwal in a more better way as he is one of the new style fighter packed actor. Might be they thought it would overcome Surya styled fights.
Samantha cute acting will give a new experience for TamilNadu audience. Her Role in this script might not be something new from current generations scripts but you can enjoy her seeing her in short dresses, which is new for everyone. Bikini wear would be her first time ever on the screen.
So, over all 3 out of 5 just for surya, vidyut jamwal and Samantha. You can have fun with friends.

Hello Friends
Here is Anjaan movie reviews..
After watching N. Lingusamy's Anjaan , I feel compelled to campaign for a new award category: Best Supporting Toothpick. The aforementioned sliver of wood, lodged permanently between Raju Bhai's (Suriya) teeth, is in nearly every frame, and it delivers the film's most stylish performance. It moves slyly from side to side. At times, it takes a cue from Rajinikanth's cigarettes, vanishing into the mouth and reappearing most miraculously. It is, all told, the sum total of Raju Bhai's character delineation.
It's as if the writers sat down and thought of what could make this
bhai character different from all the other
bhai characters down the decades, and came up with nothing. After all, this isn't a Ram Gopal Varma outing. This is a U-certificate don movie - you cannot have Suriya bathed in blood. This don doesn't smoke, he rarely drinks, and even when he visits a house of ill repute (I'd call it something else, but then, a U-certificate movie deserves a U-certificate review), it's
only to hunt for clues. What is the exact nature of his business? How did he get into this line? How did he rise through the ranks? We know nothing. How, then, to make this chap interesting? That's when someone must have piped up: "Let's at least give him a toothpick."
Genre: Action Director: N. Lingusamy Cast: Suriya, Samantha, Manoj Bajpai Storyline: Love, loss and revenge Bottomline: Utterly dull Yes, I'm afraid the film is that uninspired. It runs a posterior-numbing 170 minutes, and there isn't one surprising moment - not one line of dialogue worth recalling, not one tune worth humming, not one action sequence worth upping the pulse for (they borrowed the doves from the John Woo films, but none of the moves), not one juicy character worth caring about. These are the basics of a masala entertainer, and without them, what's left? Just the plot, which, as usual, revolves around revenge - and that's fine. No one walks into these films expecting to be riveted by the protagonist's struggles with the scientific establishment to slap a new element on the periodic table. What's shocking is the utter lack of life.
This is a dull, dull movie. Lingusamy unleashes the technical arsenal and fractures the narrative and expects us to follow a trail of clues as if this were a twisty noir nail-biter, but it's no use because the story has all the suspense of a housewife shopping for vegetables. Will her eyes fall on - cue dramatic background score, fast cutting, looping camera moves - potatoes or carrots?
Ooh!
Why is Anjaan set in Mumbai, when there's so little local colour? (The heroine gets a tattoo that says "Raju Bai," which, unfortunately, makes the man sound like a cross-dressing maidservant.) Why did Manoj Bajpai sign up for a part where he's asked to appear in a burgundy bow-tie while stripped down to his underwear?
And why is this movie named Anjaan , fearless, when it timorously ticks off all the audience boxes? There's a nod to Madurai and the aruvaa culture. Telugu viewers are appeased through a cameo by Brahmanandam. Rajinikanth fans (or maybe Shah Rukh Khan fans) are lured by an impromptu 'Lungi dance' jig. Potential reviewers are wooed by the strategic placement of Tamil magazines on a cab's dashboard. And if you love to count clichés, you have the good Muslim, the loyal friend (who really needs to get a room), the love interest who happens to be the enemy's daughter...
Samantha gamely performs the requisite loosu ponnu duties, apparently auditioning for Sridevi's role in a mega-serial adaptation of Moondram Pirai - and her costume designer seems to be the only one who decided to do something to perk up the proceedings, with micro-shorts and a bikini top. You go in expecting a meal and you end up with a... toothpick.
Enjoy movie.
