Now, the 2024 Nigerian drama "Kayla's Kin" was, of course, a movie that I had never heard about. But I had the chance to watch it here in 2025, and opted to do so, without knowing a single thing about what I was getting myself into. So I suppose, in a sense, then writers Sandra Agbodi and Tory Thompson Eseoghene had every opportunity to entertain and bedazzle me with their movie.

I have to admit that I was struggling severely to find anything enjoyable or entertaining about the storyline in the movie, and the character gallery as well. Writers Sandra Agbodi and Tory Thompson Eseoghene just dropped the ball here. And I was good and ready to give up on the dumpster fire that is "Kayla's Kin" not even 15 minutes into the ordeal.

The dialogue in the movie was rather cringeworthy, and the accent that the actors and actresses spoke with didn't do one bit to help alleviate the wobbly dialogue.

Of course I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, given my extremely limited exposure to the Nigerian cinema. The accents in the movie were somewhat rough to listen to. I can't claim that I was particularly impressed by the acting performances in the movie. And it was extremely difficult not to stare at actress Sandra Agbodi's hair and insanely wide eyebrows.

Yeah, I would most definitely not recommend anyone to waste 88 minutes on this movie.

My rating of director Austin Nwaolie's 2024 drama "Kayla's Kin" lands on a one out of ten stars.
