This was the first film I watched released in 2025, and I was absolutely thrilled with it! Umberto Riccioni Carteni's Italian romantic comedy, 'The Love Scam,' takes a unique approach to love, as the main character's deceitful plans pave the way for romance. Vito (Antonio Folletto) and his brother Antonello (Vincenzo Nemolato) find themselves in a tough spot when Antonello's reckless business decisions put their apartment at risk due to gentrification. Meanwhile, Vito is trying to gain sole custody of his baby son after his partner moved to Norway. Picture this scenario: the two brothers come up with a plan to charm the developer's daughter, Marina (Laura Adriani), to pay off her father's company using their own funds-if Vito can pull off the role of Carlo, a wealthy socialite seeking investors for his fake charity.

I watched this just before midnight and ended up waking up most of my neighbors with the hilarious antics involving the baby, the goofy brother, and, well, just the classic Italian flair! Carteni is a real master in leading a charming ensemble cast, who all shine together... even when the story takes a whimsical turn, everything seems perfectly natural!

While "The Love Scam" follows familiar plot points, it manages to be irresistibly delightful thanks to its talented cast and crew. Writers Caterina Salvadori and Ciro Zecca sprinkle in some unexpected twists, keeping us on our toes as we approach the expected conclusion. Director Carteni beautifully portrays Southern Italy, showcasing its stunning landscapes, picturesque sunsets, and rich history, while also highlighting the challenges faced by some of Vito and Antonello's neighbors as their community faces decline.

A touch more sincerity than your typical streaming romantic film makes a significant difference.

I wanted to give this film higher because the cast were great and they gave fun to their characters but in the end there really was not a lot more to it. In this film brothers vito and antonello live together with vitos baby napoleon after the formers girlfriend cheated on him and left him. Anoton has got himself into a lot of debt that his brother does not know about and after he learns thay are to be kicked out they have to find a way of getting the money. Cue the somewhat charming marina, a hairess who is worth a lot of money and someone that vito will have to try and get with to make them get them money. There are some fun bits here and there with a sweet ending and its good this film has a great cast otherwise it would be worse.

Neapolitans be like: "Enough with the stereotypes about Neapolitans." Then, without fail, a movie comes out featuring the guy who solves his problems by scheming a scam with his brother-highlighted even more since the English title is literally "The Love Scam." A plot more predictable than this is hard to find.

The cinematography is painfully typical of Italian TV movies: overloaded with bokeh and unnecessary blurs.

A romantic-comedy, nothing overly original, following the classic and overused "strangers to lovers" trope.

Despite the rich stuffing of clichés and stereotypes, it's still enjoyable and manages to draw a few smiles (like when, in the first minute, the kid bangs his head on the coffee table).

A beautiful and wonderful comedy Napolitana, a classic format from Italian comedies.

The imdb score is underrated, does not make it fair, its a solid 7/10, at least.

It is what is, a simple comedy, it does not want to be anything else.

The plot is a simple one, with the usual format, sime cliches but we know what we are waiting for. In this case you will enjoy the bits of the Napolitano life, gastronomy, the views, the streets, the-way-of napolitano, If you are a Gomorrah fan you will see some of the main actors in this film.

If you love comedies, Italy, and mainly love Naples, you will enjoy this one.

I thought this movie was going to suck at the very beginning of watching it. I almost decided to look for another movie instead. To my surprise, it turned around quickly and was fairly entertaining.

A couple of brothers devise a plan to scam Marina. As the plan moves forward, Vito starts to develop feelings for Marina. Because of Vito's ill intentions, I was curious to see how things would play out, and I didn't care what would happen to him. The tide changes once they discover a deeper scandal going on behind the scenes that is affecting many more people, especially residents of an old but functional residential building.

'The Love Scam' is a fun Romantic Comedy worth watching.
