Love story of Cha Dong Joo, a man who's been rendered deaf after an accident but pretends he can hear, and Bong Woo Ri, a woman who's intelligent but pretends she's dim-witted to protect the dignity of her mentally handicapped father.

Can You Hear My Heart features Hallyu stars Kim Jae Won, Hwang Jung Eum and Nam Goong Min in this romantic drama that shows us love in defiance of physical limitations. Dong Joo (played by Kim Jae Won) suffers from deafness, but in his pursuit of the lovely and brilliant Bong Woo Ri (Hwang Jung Eum), he pretends that he can hear as well as anyone else to win her heart. However, Bong Woo Ri also deceives a loved one: in an effort to comfort her mentally slow father, she hides her brilliance. Through the love they strive to attain, Dong Joo and Woo Ri learn to communicate in ways outside of normal means in this heartwarming and romantic series.

Family relationships can be complicated and tortured. Bong Woo Ri is a loving, dutiful daughter who does her best to accommodate the needs of her deaf mother and mentally challenged stepfather. After a tragedy that takes the life of her mother, Woo Ri's step-brother, Bong Ma Roo, leaves after promising to come back but never does. As Woo Ri grows up and searches for her stepbrother, she meets Cha Dong Joo, a young man from a wealthy family who is tortured by family secrets that he witnessed as a boy. Although Dong Joo lost his hearing in a childhood accident, he has learned to compensate for his disability so that he can keep his deafness a secret from those around him. Dong Joo and Woo Ri learn that they are connected by Ma Roo, who has taken on a new identity as Jang Joon Ha. How will the three reconcile their unexpected connection?
