I like this show, but it might be a bit of a slow burn for the MTV generation. But it's meant to put you in detectives' shoes, and most of these complex cases aren't solved in 48 hours. You feel like you are in the detectives' shoes as they walk you step by step through each case. I also liked how classy the show was in its handling of the cases. It shows enough to give you the idea without being overly gruesome or titillating. It comes across as very respectful, yet I still found all of these cases quite interesting. And the detectives are wonderful--and so impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed this show.
Look, I know not everything can be The Jinx or Making A Murderer, but this really did feel like watching "content for content's sake".
Yes, it's horrific what happened to the victims, and I'm glad the families got to share their stories, but it's just not particularly compelling. It veers very close to just reciting a Wikipedia page (though the ratio of real footage vs. Stock footage in this one is a lot better than some other ID shows I've seen).
I finished the first episode and sort of felt like... it didn't really deliver on the title? Or maybe I shouldn't have gone in expecting "these are going to be crimes where they only didn't get away with it because they poorly got rid of the body". I felt like that was a fairly straightforward assumption though...

Each episode could have been 10-15 minutes long as they don't do anything else than 4-5 different people repeating what the other had already said. And when they have really nothing to say they just keep repeating how heinous that crime was and what a terrible person it was who committed the crime. It's slow, boring and you find yourself either doing something else while watching or playing on your phone or falling asleep. And even then you know what has happened in the past 20 minutes...
This show would have had so much potential but instead it turned out to be the slowest true crime show ever.
