That's definitely one of the most outstanding shows of the Year. The team behind it must be really talented to make it work that way where every actor and character as well as all of the shots interacts with you like no other modern shows and triggers you such a broad pallete of the feelings from very deep sadness to the brightest feeling of happiness.
Straight to the point if you are allergic to slow burns and dramas when you have to think, just don't Watch it. As for myself, i Watch varios genres including gummy comedies and actions but I am also addicted to indie dramas which is closer here and I truly believe it is the greatest show of the year.

I just finished watching the first six episodes of Empathie over two evenings and am waiting impatiently for the seventh episode. I am originally from Montreal and always look forward with nostagia and longing to enjoying french speaking shows and movies filmed in my home town. I hadn't heard of this show and did not see any reviews, so I took a chance and began watching the first episode... I won't reveal any spoilers, but must say this is show ranks as one of the best I have seen in a very long time... an honest and very raw portrayal of humans and their sufferings delivered with warmth and empathy. Amazing writing, directing and a brilliant cast. Merci!
I tried to watch the first episode but there's no way on this green earth I could ever possibly watch it past the scene with the first patient showing some kind of personality disorder psychiatric disorder bipolar disorder used to be called schizophrenia but this is what I like to call over the top way over the top the script is concocted in a way to make it seem realistic as if this is a realistic mental patient but it's not really realistic at all of course maybe there are criminally insane people such as this but honestly this person needs to be heavily medicated and should have been on the journey and into the location where the new psychiatrist oh yeah the number one character in the show works, about her, just a completely unlikable oddball the description of this show says she has a mysterious illness and I guess it might come out in later episodes but what the hay I couldn't get through even the first 15 minutes, it's just screaming and screaming by the mental patient and kudos to people who in the real world deal with such patients, I have known people in my life who suffered thusly, this is just not too realistic the way the psychiatrist is questioning and how you know somehow she's supposed to be going to set things straight, this patient no doubt 100% could only be helped with whatever is the current medication to sedate and possibly keep them in a docile state, do some research and figure it out for yourselves, anyway skip this, run in the opposite direction!
Empathie is one of my favorite Quebec-made series! The cinematography is stunning, the storyline is compelling, and the cast delivers outstanding performances, especially the lead. This show will make you laugh, cry, and laugh even harder. As a Montrealer, I loved the shots of the city-it made me feel right at home and even more connected to the show.

I was not expecting to love this show. Initially, I had my reservations about watching a series with subtitles, thinking that it might distract me from fully immersing myself in the story. However, I quickly discovered that this show transcends language barriers through its powerful acting and compelling storyline. The performances are nothing short of extraordinary, with each actor bringing their character to life in a way that is both authentic and relatable.
From the very first episode, I found myself drawn into the world of the characters. The narrative is expertly crafted, weaving together their individual stories to create a rich tapestry of human experiences. Each character faces their own struggles, and as the plot unfolds, we are given a glimpse into the complexities of their lives. It's a reminder that everyone has their battles, many of which remain hidden behind closed doors. This show does an exceptional job of highlighting the often-unseen struggles that people endure, making it not just a source of entertainment but also a poignant commentary on the human condition.
What struck me most was how the show tackles difficult themes with sensitivity and grace. It doesn't shy away from addressing issues such as mental health, family dynamics, and societal pressures. Instead, it delves deep into these topics, allowing viewers to empathize with the characters and understand their motivations. The writing is both thought-provoking and heartfelt, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own lives and the lives of those around them. It's the kind of storytelling that lingers in your mind long after the credits roll.
The cinematography and direction also deserve a mention. The visual storytelling complements the narrative beautifully, with each scene meticulously crafted to evoke emotion. The use of lighting, color, and composition adds depth to the viewing experience, drawing you further into the characters' journeys. It's clear that a great deal of thought and care went into the production, which enhances the overall impact of the show.
One of the most refreshing aspects of this series is its ability to portray real-life situations without resorting to clichés. The characters are multi-dimensional, with flaws and strengths that make them feel like real people. This authenticity allows the audience to connect with them on a personal level, fostering a sense of investment in their outcomes. As I watched, I found myself rooting for their successes and feeling their heartbreaks as if they were my own.
Another element that impressed me was the pacing of the show. It strikes a perfect balance between character development and plot progression, ensuring that viewers are always engaged. There are moments of tension and conflict that keep you on the edge of your seat, interspersed with quieter, introspective scenes that allow for character reflection. This ebb and flow creates a dynamic viewing experience that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant.
As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that it's not just about individual struggles but also about the connections between people. The relationships depicted are complex and nuanced, showcasing the impact of support, love, and understanding in overcoming adversity. The show reminds us of the importance of compassion and the role we can play in each other's lives, especially during tough times.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this show to anyone looking for something that offers more than just surface-level entertainment. It is a beautiful exploration of the human experience, filled with moments that will make you laugh, cry, and reflect. Give it a chance; you might find that, like me, you are pleasantly surprised by how much it resonates with you. Just watch, and allow it to open your eyes to the stories that lie beneath the surface of everyday life. You won't regret it!
