Pretty mid

I feel like Joe Rogan doesn't actually do stand up, he just yells at the top of his lungs about all the subjects he discusses on his podcasts and makes funny faces and noises in a "daddish" sort of way to add humor when he's really not doing or saying anything that funny. I'm actually a fan of Joe but his last 3 stand up specials have been very... mediocre to say the least. I feel like he has sooo many fans across so many different platforms that his audiences give him a false sense of what's actually funny by laughing at everything he says because he's Joe Rogan and people want to laugh and have a good time with him, which is ok... just isn't good comedy in my opinion. Still a few chuckles here and there. 5/10.

Wrong guy for the job.

I like Joe Rogan's podcast. He often gets very interesting guests, seems genuinely interested in them, asks interesting questions and let's them talk at length. He's perhaps a bit 'conspiracy theory'-heavy for my taste but whatever - I enjoy his podcasts. So, I also wanted to enjoy this show and I'm not here as part of a "review bomb."

In short, Joe Rogan just isn't funny. He doesn't have "funny bones" or natural wit and he can't improvise. If a joke tanks (and many do in this show) he can't pivot to a fallback as even very-average comics learn to do. If he does come out with a smart gag, he will kill it with his delivery. He has weapons-grade confidence, but that won't save any set he does.

He's got a huge following but so did Dane Cook. There's a phenomenon where unfunny people can, by sheer force of will, generate a following. As someone who admires Rogan for his thoughtful, insightful podcasts, he really, really needs to stop doing stand-up.

"Applause Kills Comedy" - Colin Quinn

I've enjoyed past Rogan specials, as well as seeing him live at Massey Hall and other venues in Toronto. You expect a certain amount of meathead nonsense and conspiracy talk which may or may not be genuine. But the thing I've always found grating has now become a constant in this show: yelling everything as though he doesn't have a microphone. I know that's how the show is going to start, along with the cheap pandering to San Antonio but it just never lets up and it becomes draining. And the ratio of actual laughs to applause breaks - excluding the times he solicits it by referencing his move to Texas, Fear Factor, the podcast, is not going in the right direction.

I realize that not giving a glowing review if this will result in the usual nonsense of having labels hurled but I'm not even American, so save it.

There are some funny bits but overall, it's just a lot of energy to try and sell the bits as being funnier than they are.

Please quit standup.

What seems obvious to me is that Joe doesn't have any real friends left in his circle and is surrounded instead by sycophants who are too afraid to tell him that his jokes just aren't funny. I guess it doesn't help that he's mega rich and has a ton of influence in the scene.

The special was bottom of the barrel material that is dated, out of touch, and repetitive. The constant yelling, the bulging eyes, and other overexaggerated facial expressions certainly didn't help make his jokes any funnier.

Also, if you watch some of the reviews on YouTube, you'll find that he actually stole a couple of jokes and even reused a few from some of his older specials.

I don't think anyone can doubt that he's a great podcaster and MMA announcer, but comedy just isn't his thing. If he didn't constantly go on and on about him 'honing his craft and making his jokes fat-free and tight' or constantly mentioning himself among the greats like Louis, Burr, Chappelle, etc., I'd spare him this 1 star review, but the guy obviously thinks very highly of himself. He is clearly delusional about his comedy.

If you want a good laugh, look up Nick Mullen's free special on YouTube.

Might need another six years to get it fine tuned.

Repeated jokes from 15 years ago, the great samurai has crafted the ultimate special. Why be funny when you can shout like your favorite comedian? Nerves got to this titan, he's been in his echo chamber for too long. Out of touch AF. Just came to help support. Open your eyes and start listening to what used to be your fans.

I really hope people call him out for taking jokes and reminding him about his assassination of CM. What a joke to call yourself a comedian when you add zero jokes to any appearances. Everything goes over his thumb of a head.

Plus he never even touched the stool!! He needs a big dose of the truth.

It feels like a regurgitated set from three years ago

Burn the Boats was designed to ride the wave of the Brady Roast with a live comedy stand-up show; and Netflix making an offer that Rogan could not refuse...at least, it certainly feels like that is the way it played out. Most of the subject matter within Burn the Boats primarily discuses social issues and the pandemic. If you showed this special to anyone who didn't know when it debuted, they would probably guess we were still under a different administration.

Much like his podcasts, Joe Rogan's comedy style is incredibly polarizing. I'm always inclined to give Rogan a pass on his delivery style, because sometimes he does have interesting jokes. Unfortunately if you have seen a number of Rogan sets, you definitely will be thinking you have seen this one before. Nothing feels particularly new or exemplary in this set. This special feels like Joe just using his current rotation of jokes that you could see anywhere - jokes inspired and adapted from the past few years.

If you want to see Rogan, you'll definitely get Rogan here.

Truly terrible, bottom of the barrel garbage

Whether you like Joe Rogan or not, you probably won't be surprised by how unfunny, awkward, and unpolished this "comedy" special is. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Joe is a self-admitted halfwit who is not that bright on a good day, but when he is panicked and desperate because he's bombing on a live special, that's when his true colors come out.

No sense of timing, shouting, tired tropes, stolen jokes - this little dumpster fire has it all.

The only positive revelation that could come of this utter embarrassment is if Joe Rogan never does stand-up again. Ever. In any lifetime. That would be a mercy for us all.

One of his best

I know not everyone is a fan of Joe Rogan, I am, I enjoy his podcast and whilst I can agree with many things he says I also disagree with many things he says.

His comedy has always been a bit tame for me, there hace always been good concepts and ideas, but I don't find him as funny as other comedians that I like.

That being said, I thought this was one of his best specials, it was sharp and for fans of the podcast had many calls backs.

The ideas are crisp, as is the delivery and it will be a hit for many Joe Rogan fans.

All in all a very enjoyable special with some very special moments. Nice one.

Not terrible, not amazing, very shouty

So this set had it's moments. More than once, I got a solid chuckle. And a couple of times, I had a good sized laugh. Nothing really left me in stitches, but I think the 1 and 2 star reviews are more of a "review bomb" phenomina.

The bit is better than average, but nothing ground breaking. It does have some insightful humor and moments of introspection, but Rogan seems to shout his punchlines more now than in previous specials. That, to me more than anything, detracted from the story or the punchlines because of just how frequently it was used.

Maybe I'm getting older, or maybe Always Sunny ruined the gimic of shouting punchlines... no matter the reason, I'm less and less fond of "louder = funnier."

Again, not bad, but not great either. A tick above average.

Just bad.

Joe Rogan's "Burn the Boats" stand-up special is a colossal disappointment. The performance is plagued by excessive yelling and exaggerated expressions, which quickly become tiresome. Rogan's material feels outdated and pandering, lacking the sharp wit and clever insights that characterized his earlier work. His attempts at humor often fall flat, relying on tired jokes about sensitive topics without offering anything new or thought-provoking. The pacing is poor, with awkward pauses where he clearly expects laughter that never comes. Overall, this special is a significant step down and fails to deliver any real comedy.

Remember when you told Brendan Schaub to quit UFC because he sucked? Well, I'm telling you, stick to podcasting/UFC hosting (arguably the GOAT of both) because this comedian cosplay is really embarrassing at this point.

Don't trust the reviews

I don't know why there's so many one star reviews on here. It's obviously not the best stand up show ever made, but it's no a one star show either.

If you liked the other Rogan specials, then I think you'll like this one too.

Yes, I think it would be better if he didn't shout all the time. But that's just he's style, and if you've ever seen him before you know this. The material is decent, and you can tell he loves being on stage. Nothing here will stand out as being exceptionally funny, but nothing falls through either. Just an easy laugh and a good time.

My guess is that because of his podcast, people either love him or hate him.

Absolute muck.

Joe is a very successful podcast host and a guy you can listen to effortlessly as he has a bit of an everyman persona. Unfortunately what he identifies as is as a stand up comedian and on the basis of this slop. Embarrassing unfunny drivel, making silly faces and no comedic points, in front of his sycophantic fans who can't even identify the places they're supposed to laugh. Horrific to watch. The fact that I've heard Joe refer to himself as an elite comic and trash other comics makes this mess all the more embarrassing. If there's one up side it's the fact that I can't imagine any of Joe's real friends will ever let him film a special again.

Is this comedy?

OK, I've never heard of this guy before but I'm willing to try a new comedian and up to now I've been surprised at some I've watched. Well Joe Rogan certainly bucked that trend. Is it because I am English as I could not understand his humour or is it because he simply isn't funny? Shouting and going red in the face and using profanities every other word is not comedy. You could say Joan Rivers wasn't much better but she was funny, Joe Rogan is not. I have no idea what the title means and I can't understand what people find funny with this man. One star, frankly is too many. Don't waste valuable time watching this utter rubbish.

Potential for what?

That question is for the "had potential" reviewers. And the question needs to be asked, for what?

Loud psedo intellectual, make loud lunkhead joke.

Stick to being a side piece on a UFC commentator team. Please. He's worshipped by a bunch of people hit in the head repeatedly, so that should tell you something. Is he a comedian? Is at least funny?

Those are subjective takes, but man, this clownshoe makes a fool out of himself every single time he opens his face hole. Here, he's getting paid to do just that. Insufferable at its best, with little man disease fully on display, and just really don't want to hear this guy anymore, as a comedy show should be funny. The problem being, hes not funny.

Good it exists.

7.4/10 IMO, there was a lot of good things in this short 1 hour act. For reference, I have probably listened to 6-10 episodes of his podcast.

Overall I am glad to have watched it, and dont regret the time. Though the act itself may be considered to be not completely comedy centric. I feel like this act was meant to be informative, enjoyable, educational, clearing, curiosity building... It feels like it could have used more work, been longer, more could have made more of the ground that was covered if it was continued.

I think this act belongs on Youtube, as it does a lot of good, it is good it exists.

Perhaps you can tell comedy is not quite calibrated when it is getting massive amounts of 1 stars, as is the case with the set, but it means it at least presses buttons, as giving it 1 star is infantile.

Poor Man's Sam Kinison

Joe screams, shouts, and exaggerates his way through weak material and played out premises with lots of volume but very little substance.

He has gone full tilt with his apeing of Sam Kinison's schtick and seems to feel that as long as you shout at the top of your lungs the material will somehow magically be funny. He's mistaken.

He rants and complains about the same tired subjects and topics he's been ranting and complaining about on his podcast for years.

In all honesty that's all this special really felt like was an episode of his podcast except done in front of a live audience and instead of it being a discussion format it's just him screaming into a mic and hoping it turns out funny.

Joe has become out of touch with comedy and often times seemingly out of touch with reality.

Would not recommend.

I Took the Time to Write a Review

But unlike other reviews so far, it's to acknowledge that Joe is funny and insightful as ever as he boldly goes live for this special recording.

Joe toes the line with many subjects, especially some that have gotten some comedians flack recently (Chapelle). And he does it with the loving barbed spear of comedy. Constantly, Joe reminds us the single most important part of standup - it's all about the laughs.

Yeah, he says some bad words. That's comedy.

Yeah, he intentionally polarizes himself for a premise. Also, comedy.

And one thing Joe does throughout the whole set is get laughs. And that, my friends, is comedy.

It was funny...

Joe isn't the very best at stand up but he is good. During this special, I laughed out loud several times. Yes, if you are a regular JRE listener you would have heard many of the talking points but it was good to see him in full flow in a highly animated state. Plus he has great facial expressions to go along with his observations. And to add to boot, he did this live. So, he deserves credit for putting himself out there like that. Well done, Joe.

To all those reading the reviews, do yourself a favor by watching the special to make up your own mind on whether this was good or not. You'll certainly enjoy it more than the ridiculous one star reviews.

Don't trust hate reviews. Solid special

Don't trust the hate reviews, it's a solid special with some good jokes and makes for some good laughs. Sure if you are triggered by any sort of his topics you might not like it or if you just hate the guy you can obviously hate watch it but if you're not triggered by Rogan's mere existence. Then it's a funny special with lots of funny jokes on topics you would obviously expect from Rogan. Also major props for him to do it live, that's insanely tall order for comedy and I honestly didn't even notice or see any fumbles on my first view. Was nice to finally see some new comedy from Rogan after 6 years.

This is really bad yall

I've been a fan of Rogan for years, from FF to his UFC commentating, the podcast (less now that there are so many political characters there) and I can remember in the past thinking he was pretty funny. I dunno if I have changed or if it's more than Joe is completely out of touch. This was significantly below par for the level he professes himself to be. Or any comic rather, which is consistently funny. I didn't chuckle more than twice. Literally a squirrel is funnier just living its life. Someone needs to give Joe the same talk he gave Schuab. Stick to what you are good at, and let the pros do this.

If you enjoy comedy and like Joe you will like this

If you enjoy comedy and like Joe you will like this. The set is pretty good. There were a few lol moments, and many chuckles. I agreed with almost everything he spoke about, and he was funny, so that's why I watched the entire thing, instead of ditching it 10 minutes in.

Many of the topics are issues that we are currently facing in the world. So if you agree that the world has become a weird place then you will enjoy this. Joe tells it likes it is, but swerves before he gets offensive. A bit of a pity as I would have preffered a show that was risky AF.

Not the best comedy I have seen, but it's definitely better than the poor ratings. This is a sold 7/10.

No, Joe Rogan is not the new Bill Hicks.

In a recent interview Joe Rogan was asked the fairly typical and predictable entertainment industry question, what inspired you to make this new special? Joe's response was.anything but typical but to anyone who has listened to Joe's view on his own comedy, it was predictable.

Joe went on to complain about the lack of real comedy in today's PC world, the lack of comics who are brave enough to stand up to Cancel Culture, Joe also lamented that if freedom of speech was to be saved the silent majority needed a voice, a strong voice to stand up against...them. Joe then said that he sees himself as the new Bill Hicks!

Big shoes to fill.

After watching Rogans new special i can honestly and confidently say that Joe is not the "new Bill Hicks". Joe is in fact the opposite of Bill, in every way possible. Without going into a detailed review of Burn The Boats it would serve you well to know, if you enjoy anything about BH, you will not enjoy Burn The Boats or Joe Rogan.

Joe Rogan is not a comic.

Oh Joe; THIS TOOK YOU SIX YEARS TO WRITE?!

Joe Rogan was on a show once. He was ok.

Joe Rogan also hosted the show that thought beer and women jumping on trampolines was comedy. It isn't.

When that gig failed, he took over the hosting duties on a show that challenged contestants to eat maggots and donkey semen. Gold.

So I'm not sure what I expected from this "special" (it's special all right; just not the way he wanted it).

It's his podcast. But stay with me. The hook is: HE SHOUTS EVERYTHING.

I guess he watched a lot of Sam Kinison while he was writing this material (another comedian that's almost unwatchable today-he'd be labeled a hack).

This is dreck. Plain and simple. How addicted to right wing conspiracy theories does one have to be to pay for a show that's unfunny and is just regurgitated opinions from the podcast which is free?

The audience doesn't even laugh. And Joe just keeps getting louder and sweatier.

Also, who's your stylist, Joe? Adam Sandler?

Rogan still thinks he's a comedian

I think it's funny when he refers to himself as a comedian. He was in comedy, but that's not what made him famous. If he had just stuck with comedy, no one would know his name.

Sorry Joe, You're just a podcaster.
