The basic virtue is the construction of story. And, sure, the beginning of romance, the promisse of retirement , the blue cave as symbol and the smart use of ambiguity.
Not ignoring the acting.
A love story like so many others. The nice intention to give to it a personal touch and a not dessapointed result , the crumbs of fairy tale of relation between marine officer and his future wife , archeologist, looking just fine, especially for the way of hero to truth and the meetings with the significant people of his past.
Not memorable but, obvious, more than nice.
And, in essence, this is the most significant thing defining it.

The movie was utterly fantastic. The movie really makes you think and ponder life's journey. It is full of metaphors for life, time, living, love, attraction, regrets, childhood traumas, focus and dreams. It's a movie I can see myself watching many times, because once is not enough to watch it. It's an absolute beautiful, emotional and original romantic drama being told.
Kerem Bürsin was extremely good in this and also showed his talent as a screenwriter. Kerem can make you feel emotions with his eyes and expressions, like you are experiencing it yourself. Devrim Ozkan was very good also, my first experience with her as an actress. Through the love story, the film raises important psychological questions, along with deeper interpretations to make you think. The cinematography is outstanding in the film, its visual display is of simple beauty. The colors and natural scenery are incredible.
I will definitely be rewatching it many times and will gain meaningful insight from each time.

The film has a faster pace at the beginning and slows down as the plot progresses.
We are introduced to Cem, a Marine who has no flair for romance and with Alara, an archaeologist who is reluctant to get involved with Cem because her work as a soldier offers many risks, and she wants something stable, something he cannot offer.
The plot unfolds simply, with the couple's difficulties and how they deal with them and the veiled promise to go to the Blue Cave.
When we reach the end, in the final plot, the viewer is surprised by the twist in the plot, perhaps if the film had more time on the unfolding of some actions or more screen time for the main couple. The end of the film would have more impact, an extra 10 minutes would have been enough in my opinion.
Finally, it is a good film for those who like the style of romance, adventure, the plot is not deep and does not ask you to dwell on it, but it asks you to understand the motivations of the main couple and try see through their eyes.

One of the best films I've seen. The love, the sadness, the loss, the happiness, the fear, it's all here. Everything fits together perfectly. Kerem is a great actor but he has also proven to be a very good and magical writer. The harmony with Devrim was something crazy like their chemistry. I hope they still work together. It's not the usual Turkish film full of clichés, it's different, a journey in search of lost love that turns into something surprising. Kerem and Devrim made the characters their own, making them very real and this is why the story becomes real, naked and raw. The last twenty minutes rip your heart and soul out of your chest. This film must be seen, tears are guaranteed.
Baby don't hurt me ... don't hurt me ... well you know the rest (if you know the song) ... I also could have written "love is a battlefield" .. because the man is a soldier (forgive my over explaining, but some may not have seen the movie - so no pun intended). Will that even matter for you? Tough to say to be honest.
There is romance in the air, there is a shy first flirt ... and then there is a back and forth (timeline wise) to show us where the characters end up "today". I would say what the movie might be hiding under the guise of a twist ... I think is quite clear ... we are not blue (whatever that may mean) ... I do like the color, but that is besides the point.
The movie is there to show that we should live life to the fullest - to enjoy and cherish even the smallest moments. And also to do what we love to do ... with the people we love to do it with (no pun intended once more)
